Memorial
Yvonne Marie Watkins passed away at home the morning of Friday January 10, 2014. She spent her final weeks surrounded by family and care.

Yvonne was a daughter, a sister, a mother, an aunt, a friend, a dance partner, a teacher, and most recently a grandmother. She was all these things and very much more. She passed away just shy of her 61st birthday, but to say she is "survived" by her friends and family is an understatement.

Her life was not an example of mere existence, but one lived with purpose, passion, heart, laughter, and wisdom. The strength of her spirit could not be overcome by adversity and illness. Even in death, the spirit was not extinguished, but remains in those she loved and loved her.

This spring her ashes will be taken to the beaches of Lake Michigan in Indiana to be spread by her family. Let this be a place for us to celebrate her with our memories.

Yvonne was a class act, as an educator, and friend. She was always professional and friendly to all, with a smile, that would light up a room, when she entered. I will miss her, but will not forget her. The children she taught, now will go forward, with the skills and attitudes, that was part of her daily life in her classroom. Way to go!!!

Yvonne made me smile and laugh every single time we talked. Her energy for life was contagious and we all loved to be around her. She and I got our Master's Degree together and I got to see how really intelligent she was.Yvonne will be missed but I smile when I think of her.She touched a lot of people with her love for life.

"I was always glad to see Yvonne because I just knew it'd be a good time. She'd come over and grab you out to the dance floor with a somewhat mischievous but contagious smile that said "c'mon, who cares, let's have FUN!!""

"Yvonne-- Thank you forever for your wonderful children, Jen & Ryan. We share precious Henry, our grandson. I know in another reality we would have been best buds. Can you imagine the trouble we two grandmas would get into? Crazy! Love you, Gr'Anni"

"Yvonne could dance it up with the best of us. Her great laugh and good sense of humor (she laughingly threw her dirty sock in my face while we were watching a RomCom together because I was talking during the "good" part) will stay with me always."
