Memorial
In memory of Vitien Forcha
We are faced with the sad and sorrowful task of mourning a distinguished and beloved son of Lekong Formin. A bright star is dimmed as it transits into eternity and immortality. We have lost a star, a source of inspiration, a motivator, a helper, and above all the most loving and caring son, brother and friend. He was a strong pillar in the family.
Even when his mother left for United States and his older siblings went to college, he ran the house like an adult could. He never said no or complained to anything. He was such a special person to his family and to anyone who came across him. Vitien Forcha has joined his ancestors. Such is the magnitude of our irreparable loss; absolutely stunning, devastating, and unquantifiable.
Vitien hailed from Lekong Formin in Cameroon, son of Nkem Ngoasong Francis and Christiana Anyileke. He was born on May 4th 1994. He was the seventh child of nine children. He attended Lekong Forkem primary school while in his home country and came to the United States on September the 5th 2006 to join his mother and siblings in Columbus, Ohio with a high hope of the American dream. He went on to attend Kilbourne middle school and also proceeded to Northland High school. He was indeed an outstanding student. Vitien Forcha enjoyed playing soccer. In his final year of high school, he applied for and was accepted to Ohio States University to study Medical Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical science as potential major and was also awarded a scholarship.
Vitien met his sudden and untimely death a few days before his high school graduation. His dreams were cut short on the 20th of April 2012, again a few days to his 18th birthday.
As we mourn our departed brother, we must be reminded that there are two inescapable milestones in every one’s life; the day of birth and the day of death, each characterized by tears – tears of joy and jubilation at birth and tears of sorrow and heartbreak at death. The intervening period marks a complex journey through an uncharted landscape, with road maps and duration as diverse as there are people. One thing is certain: the journey must terminate in due time when we transit from this mortal world into immortality. And last we forget, each and every one of us is on track to keep our appointment; our heart beat should be a constant reminder that the march is on and that the journey is getting shorter with each passing hour. We should also be reminded that for our journey to be meaningful, we must strive to leave indelible footprints as legacies of our sojourn. As we bid farewell to Vitien, and celebrate his life, we should remember his father Nkem Ngoasong Francis, mother Christiana Anyileke, his four brothers, four sisters, in-laws, and other members of his entire family and in our prayers; that the Almighty God should give them succor and strength to bear this incredible loss. They should not rend their hearts but should find strength in their faith knowing that death is necessary portal in our journey to meet our Maker and share in the everlasting glory and bliss of His Kingdom.
We wish to thank all friends and well wishers who are sympathizing with us for your kind thoughts and generosity. Your moral support and kindness is helping us greatly during this time of mourning. We are grateful and will continue to appreciate your efforts.
Vitien, may your gentle soul rest in peace. You will forever be remembered!
