I have huge respect for the individuals who choose law enforcement as their profession. I'm glad to read that he loved his career and was proud to be a city policeman. Hoping this gives you some solice during your mourning. Peace be with you and your daughters.

I never quite know what to say in a time like this. Stephen, along with the other 2 officers who lost their lives and the others who were shot are true heroes. My heart goes out to your family. As a Christian, I will be praying for your family. Joyce Long

Shandra, We are so sorry to hear of the death of your beloved husband, Stephen. It is difficult to understand why there is senseless violence. Your husband sacrificed his life for others. Hug your daughters. Know that Stephen is with our Father in heaven and that he will be watching over you and helping you get through each day. This has been such a sad week for the police department, the families and the city. It hurts my heart deeply that this tragic event has happen to your loved one. As the daughter of a police officer, I know the respect and pride you have had in your husband, father, and son. We can never make sense of such a tragedy; just know that there prayers for you that God gives you strength during this horrific time. Our Lord is there for you, go to him for help, and my prayers are also that the Holy Spirit be with you to support you at this time. Just remember, Jesus intercedes to the Father for us when we can not find words to pray. One of my favorite songs while faceing dark valley's is "How Firm A Foundation" ...What more can he say than to you he hath said, to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?...I'll strengthen and help thee, and casue thee to stand...When through the deep waters I call thee to go, the rivers of woe shall not thee over flow;...When through fiery trials thy pathways shall lie, my grace, all sufficient shall be thy supply; the flames shall not hurt thee I only design, the dross to consume and they gold to refine...The soul that on Jesus still leans for repose, I will not, I will not desert to its foes;though all hell should endeavor to shake, I'll never, no , never, no, never for sake.
