This site is dedicated to Sheila Chalmers. She was a beautiful person who brought joy and happiness to everyone who knew her. Her smile lit up a room in a way that words cannot describe. She was a much beloved wife, sister, daughter and aunt to her family. She is greatly missed.

Sheila was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1964. She spent the first five years of her life there. Then her family emigrated to Cincinnati, Ohio where she spent her formative years.

She spent the next 20 odd years in Ohio, going to school, working, making lifelong friends. She also spent some time working at Yosemite National Park, moved to Phoenix, and stayed there for several years.

She moved to California in 1996 where she met her husband Vance Cochrane. They were married in 2002 on the island of Hawaii. Sheila and Vance had many adventures together, traveling to Europe and Asia, doing builds for Habitat for Humanity, Scuba diving, and just general fun.

In the last year of her life Sheila got to visit Rome in 2013 for Vance's 50th birthday where they were both blessed by Pope Francis. Then Sheila celebrated her 50th birthday on July 14, 2014 in Paris. The French were kind enough to enjoy her birthday with us by throwing a big parade and doing fireworks from the Eiffel tower. She had always wanted to go to Paris for her birthday. I'm glad we were able to make her wish come true.

I have created a Shutterfly site for people to view photos from Sheila's life. Please feel free to view it and if you would like to be able to upload any photo's or video's that you have, please contact me at

I just found out about this sad news. Sheila and I were pursuing our MBA at NDNU and were in a Capstone project together along with two other gals. We tried to stay connected after we all graduated. Sheila gave of herself to be a "big sister" to a little girl, she helped dreams come true with her involvement in Habitat for Humanity, she loved to travel, and always stayed positive. I will always have very fond memories of her. Sheila is at peace now.

I would like to express my condolences at this time to your family. The Bible is a great source of encouragement at times like this. A comforting thought is at Revelation 21:3,4, where it states "...And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry be anymore the former things have past away". This scripture gives us hope for the future! You can also find comfort in Acts 24:15 - Death does not end it all. May Jehovah bring you comfort and peace during this difficult time.

Maria & I enjoyed Sheila's friendship and especially our years playing indoor soccer together. Maria was lucky enough to witness Sheila's U.S. Citizenship ceremony. We will continue to have fond memories of her.
