Samson Iroghama Edomwonyi Mr.

Edo, Nigeria
March 19, 1941

Alberta, Canada
April 14, 2017

Mr. Samson Iroghama Edomwonyi was born in Iyanomo Village, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government area of Edo State to the family of Late Pa Jacob Edomwonyi Igbinosun of Iyanomo and Late Mrs. Aruhunde Edomwonyi Igbinosun of Oher Village, Edo State on March 19th, 1941.

He lived in Benin City with his parents where he started his early education before proceeding to Sapele Trade Centre where he obtained his City & Guilds certification and worked at A.T. & P for 3 years. In the early 1960’s, he proceeded to obtain his Diploma in Automobile Engineering from the Institute of Motor Industry, London, England.

In July 1969, he met his lovely wife, Philomena, and they both got married on May 27th, 1970. Together, they were blessed with 6 children and 11 grandchildren.

Mr. Edomwonyi joined the Nigeria Prison Services in 1968. He spent all his working life at the Nigerian Prison Services where he retired in 2001 as a Deputy Comptroller General.

Samson is a very quiet and principled man who loves people. A hardworking man who believed in honesty, fairness, and trust. Always willing to give “a fishing rod to a man rather than just fishes always”. A devout Christian, one who loved God and believed nothing was impossible with God. He lived a good life and was loved by many whose lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife, 6 children, 11 grandchildren, 7 brothers and 11 sisters.
