I have known Rick for many years, as I used to deliver pizzas to the hillside when I was in high school. I got a chance to to get know him even better once I started frequenting the bar on motorcycles with my buds. Rick was always the first one to buy us all a round of shots, regardless if we were ready for one or not! In fact, one Saturday when we were leaving the hill on bikes, rick ran outside to give our group a 20 dollar bill and said, "the next round is on me guys, thanks for stopping in". I will mostly miss his keen sense of humor, and ability to make me laugh till A little pee came out.... RIP wild man! Your spirit will live on!

I met Rick way back in 1984. I went to the Hillside with a friend and Rick was bartending, and I became a regular customer and soon a friend. He was a different kind of person!! Always made me laugh. I will never forget the time this girl asked for a bag of chips. Rick said, "do you want big chips or little chips?" The girl said "little chips".
Rick grabbed the bag of chips, sat it on the bar and slammed his fist down on the bag and then says..."there, little chips!"
I laughed for a long time about that one.
So many memories and yet I hadn't seen him in about the last 14-15 years or so.
Rick- You were a one-of-a-kind guy & you will be missed. RIP

since i challenged everyone i thought i should do this again......i met rick & gloriane in august of 2005 when i started dating bobby viner.....i remember stopping at the bar b4 work, i'd drink pop and go to work (in rochester) and rick would always give me a hug.....i do have to say that rick was my very first friend here in onalaska, he was my big brother, always helping me with my car, or anything i needed....he had such a big heart....i remember bobby talking about how him & rick had been friends since they were about 16 yrs old (about 37 yrs) and that they had these snowmobiles and crashing them and rick would fix them & then something would happen again. i'm glad i did get to do movie wednesday with him, bobby, kari & scott but i know we could have picked a better movie....but we all watched it cuz rick wanted to.........oh how i miss u......i remember when u were coming to mayo and u & gloriane met me for lunch....
