Richard E. Stubits,
Physical Therapist
January 19, 1951- March 24, 2015
Age 64,
Graduate of University of Pittsburgh

Rich was born in Palmerton, PA and passed away on March 24th at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona.

While Rich always kept a positive outlook on life, and hoped to get back to the many things he enjoyed, he succumbed to difficulties from cancer on Tuesday evening, March 24, 2015. He underwent complex cancer surgery on January 30, which caused numerous setbacks and return trips to ICU for weeks at a time. He fought a brave battle but unfortunately was not able to defeat the cancer that took his life.

Rich was a gentle and caring person; whether at his job helping someone return to a normal life through physical therapy, or dropping off turkeys at Saint Mary’s Food Bank for the less fortunate. But the most fulfilling and satisfying acts of love that Rich enjoyed was adopting unwanted dogs from the Arizona Humane Society. For over twenty years he has supported this outstanding organization.

The family requests that in lieu of plants or flowers, please consider a donation in Rich’s name be made to the Arizona Humane Society. And, consider opening your heart to a homeless pet.

Rich is survived by his partner, Philip Pike and his two brothers Neil Stubits, Laplata, Md. And Danny Stubits, Leighton, Pa.

Rich, although we only met just a few times, I found you to be such a wonderful person. You were so kind and compassionate, and the best Thanksgiving I've ever had was spent with you and Phil. Great cook and gardener, fabulous host, but what I liked about you most of all was your sense of humor. May you rest in eternal peace.

I miss you uncle Rich. The world isn't the same without you or your wit. I'm so glad we were able to hug and be together that last week. You and Uncle Bubba made us always feel so loved and special. You both are the best Uncles ever and I will never forget all our vacations and time together. You are absolutely unforgettable.
I love you so much.

Sometimes a brief meeting is all it takes. It was a pleasure to have met Rich and a joy to continue my friendship with Phil.

"Rich, We were Great friends from the start! Both of us with caring hearts and no antipathy towards anyone. What a rare combination. Earth may have lost a kindred spirit but the heavens gained one hell of an angel! Janice Bellegante"
