When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not there to see, If the sun should rise and find your eyes, all filled with tears for me,
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry, the way you did today, While thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, And each time that you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.
And said my place was ready in Heaven far above, And that I’d have to leave behind, all those things I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye,For all my life, I’d always thought, I didn’t want to die.
I had so much to live for, so much yet to do, It seemed almost impossible, that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad, I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while,I’d say goodbye and kiss you and maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized, that could never be,
For emptiness and memories, would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow,I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through Heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, from his great golden throne.
He said, “This is eternity, and all I’ve promised you. Today your life on Earth is past, and here it starts anew”.
“I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last, And since each day’s the same day, there’s no longing for the past”. “But you have been so faithful, so trusting and so true,
Though there were times you did some things, you know you shouldn’t do”. “But you have been forgiven, and now at last you’re free,
So won’t you take my hand now and share My life with Me”.

So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.

We should not measure one’s life by the length of time they are here but by the lives, one touches. In beauty and in spirit Nisha can be judged by the impact she had on so many. Her soft touch, her vibrant personality, and her propensity to be on the move are reminiscent of her favorite symbol, the butterfly.

Rhonisha Kumia Harris was born on the blessed day of Sunday, September 13, 1981, to her mother Ronda Daugherty-Evers and father Charles Ray Harris. Called aka: Pooh, Nisha or NENE by loved ones. Nisha made an impact during her time here. As a child, she was raised by her committed mother who stood by her throughout her life. Ronda assisted Nisha through her education which included Randallstown High School where she was a part of the drama club and the technology crew of the theater company.

After graduating from high school she experienced college life at Clark University, in Atlanta, GA. Upon coming home she took up an apprenticeship under Personal Touch and Company where she ultimately obtained her cosmetology professional license in November 2006. She was sought for off-premise wedding parties, styling for known artists like Kelly Price and models during fashion week.

It was befitting that she would pursue a career in beauty for every time you saw her, the hair and nails looked fabulous. She was beautiful inside and out. Growing up with the creative influence of her mother, Nisha had recently enrolled in the Art Institute of Pennsylvania to get a degree and licensed in interior design. Yet, she was so much more than her career. She landed in lives to be the helper, consoler, cheerleader, caretaker, thoughtful and caring one.

Nisha had a great love for children and took many children under her wings to make sure they did well in school and stayed on the right path.

As a child, she volunteered at the Civil Rights Museum of Memphis Tennessee every summer while visiting her grandparents. As an adult, she adopted a family every Christmas, from the Agape House in Baltimore, Maryland. She took flight and made sure she took others too. She fluttered in life like we all do, but she always could be counted on when the tough got going.

It doesn’t take countless years to learn to love. She loved. It doesn’t take much time to learn to be friendly. She was a best friend. Time might not have been on her side but the love she had for her family and friends knew no boundaries, for she took the time to give to those she loved.

There is a reason for every season. Spring brings the caterpillar that emerges in the summer as a thing of beauty. God gave her to us to watch her beauty unfold and he called her home on the blessed Sunday of December 4th, 2011. She was surrounded by family and friends and held by her mother as the creator carried her home, healed, renewed, and pain-free.

She leaves in body her mother and father, grandmother Lillie “Grannie” Daugherty, grandmother Hazel Jackson, Aunt Malinda Walls, Curtis Hall, host of other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nisha leaves her half sisters: Tracy Harris, Jamila (Karl) Kuykendall, Asha (Earl) Moore, Ebony Harris, and Cierra Harris. The love of her life niece and nephew Chris and Katie Moore. Nisha‘s goddaughter Dashaye Selby. Godmother Jackie Burnett, God sister Shelia Moss, God brother Marcus Burnett. Godmother Jill “Mommie” Chen, Godfather Karl “Dad” Chen, God sister Joal Chen, God brothers Keith and Kelen Chen, Joyce “Grammie” Mann and Al “PopPop” Mann her adoptive grandparents and a host of family and friends she adored.

Nisha was preceded in death by her grandfather, Marshall Thomas Daugherty, who met Nisha at heaven’s gateway to usher his grandbaby home.

The gift of life and life everlasting are from whom all blessings flow, God has our Rhonisha and for that, we say Amen.
