In loving memory of John Irvine, he will be missed by all who knew him, family, friends, relatvive and the those lifes he touched throughout his life.

*Celtic Blessing*
May the roads rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rain fall soft upon your fields
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.

I had nearly completed this euglogy and it was sad and sentimental and everything that a eulogy should be. As i was about to click the save button i stopped and realised. My grandfather would not have wanted everyone in the family to be saddened by his passing on. He would want them to be greatful and relieved that god had answered his prayers and relieved him from his pain and suffering.

Any one who knew my grandfather, would have known that he was special and unique and he broke the mould. So for this reason, i have decided to follow in his footsteps. This eulogy is not going to be sad its going to be reflectaive and celebratory, a celebration of the man that he was, a man that we will one day meet again in a land far away and a place when our time has come.

I though long and hard about how to make this a celebration fo his life, i could not find the words on my own but i did find a poem;

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
(Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!)

After reading this i did finally realse something, he is gone in body but not spirit. In spirit he is watching over everyone. ensuring that we are safe and sound and that we are happy and secure.

please feel free to comment
