Guest Book
My condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one. May pleasant memories of Randy bring comfort during your time of sorrow and remembrance, along with God's promise in the Bible at John 5:21, 28 and 29.

Jehovah is the God of Comfort who can and will heal your broken heart. For His Son, Jesus, said: "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life." John 11:25

May you find comfort in God's promise of the resurrection through His Son, Jesus.

My heartfelt sympathies are extended to the Macdonald family for the loss of your dear loved one. Please know that our Heavenly Father truly cares about you and feels the pain you are going through. Death was never part of God’s original purpose for mankind, so it greatly pains Him to lose one of His people. (Psalm 116:15) Therefore, at Isaiah 26:19, God promises that death will only be temporary, for He will soon restore our lost loved ones to life right here on the earth. What a wonderful time we have to look forward to! Until this loving promise is fulfilled, may your fond memories of Mr. Macdonald bring you solace at this difficult time.

Randy visited me in Manchester, VT, last summer.
We had coffee at Starbucks and shot the shit. Randy
was a lovely man whom I never really got to know at the
University of Rochester. I first reconnected with Randy at the
BDG reunion outside Washington DC about 4 or 5 years ago.
I was drawn to his inner peace. I will miss him.
He was only a year older than I am, and far too youn
to die.

A bit of me left the world when Randy did.
I can’t go back to our hitchhiking days in the late sixties,
but the memories will never be erased.

Whoever wrote Randy's life story (obit.) did a splendid job of capturing the joy & diversity of his journey in this world. He would have been proud & perhaps a bit embarrased. I shared the event of the mountain wedding & seeing Mara in her crib in the first house. Beasley & Big Pink & trips down rapids on the leaky raft were part of the "never say die adventures with no money" of Fran & Randy in the early yrs. Condolences to Randy's wonderful children. Really that word does not convey how much you will all miss your loving father. But he will always live in your memory & may you always hold fast to his absolute zest for life.

Randy is the best friend i could have ever had. I will miss him dearly. I was able to participate in many of the activities mentioned; Black Canyon of the Gunnison, fishing, live music, Scottish festival, good beer, ski trips, road trips, (we went to Alliance, Nebraska to watch the solar eclipse), etc. Like Randy, I too tried to be a hippy but couldn't quite pull it off. Eventually, I also evolved as a conservative. Randy and I would talk politics for hours on end and analyze "the state of the union". This morning, I was startled to hear the hooting of a great horned owl in my front yard. I thought that was weird as they have always been around only in the dead of winter. Perhaps it was Randy checking in, after all, he really was a wise fellow. Me, I'm thinking it was Randy.
