I was so sorry to hear that Phyllis had passed. She was such a beautiful person both inside and out. I have known Phyllis since we were small children going to Sunday School at Ingalls Park Methodist Church. Both our families attended there. She always had a smile on her face and that is the way I will remember her. My sympathy to her family, I know she will be missed.

There aren't enough adjectives to describe Phyllis--beautiful, creative, adventurous, spirited, thoughtful, generous, talented, loving, vibrant, gracious & stylish are just a few. Memories of her bring visions of family celebrations, good food, fun & laughter. Hold onto the happy memories & cherish them dearly. Phyllis will be truly missed but her legacy will live on in her beautiful daughters who possess her finest attributes, and in her wonderful grandsons. With caring thoughts & wonderful memories, Bob & Melanie

Thank you all for your thoughts, remembrances, condolences and prayers. Phyllis was the best person I ever knew. She was caring, thoughtful, tolerant, a loving wife, great parent and grandparent. She loved to travel, loved her art work, photography, cruise vacations and adventures of all kinds. Most of all she loved her immediate and extended family. Our two grandsons could do no wrong according to her. She seemed to forget her pain whenever our grandsons visited. She was always upbeat and positive. I will miss her but I won't miss the horrible and debilitating pain she was in. Her remains now rest in her favorite place on earth, Sedona. She is now pain free and with her Mom and Dad. She was my everything.

I am SO happy that the Good Lord reconnected Phyllis and I after so many years! Our memories of the Paluzzi & DiDesiderio family gatherings on the "East Side" ... brought us much delight as we reminisced about our grandparents and parents (aunts, uncles and cousins). They were joy filled days when we lived them as children and joy filled again as we laughed and loved our way through those conversations in recent years. I feel so blessed to have been given the gift of my cousin Phyllis. There is no pain in heaven and she now watches over all those she loved so dearly on earth ... as their own private angel in heaven who waits for their reunion one day. May you all feel the warm glow of her love always because ... "When someone's love is in your heart, they're never truly gone." Sending my hugs & Love to Ken, Jenny, Lisa & Brian, Tyler and Zane, Gordon, Tony, Vicki & Renee and all your families! She loved you all .... SO very much .... never forget that! Your cousin Desiree

Ken,

I went to Rockdale grade school and played basketball with you. After 8th grade, we lost contact, but over the years I've often wondered what you were doing. I remember your mother, father and brother well.

I'm happy to see that you married a beautiful lady and had a wonderful family. I'm sad to see that your lovely wife has passed. I'm sure that your beautiful daughters and grandchildren are a comfort.

When you have a chance, I would like to catch up on what's happened over the last 50+ years. We can reminisce about our grade school basketball triumphs. :-) You can contact me at joe@promatrix.com .

Phyllis and I went to school together, and during our adult life became very close friends. We even shared the birth of our first born daughters on the same day and at the same hospital. She had warmth and affection for people and a zest for life. She was so very talented; creating beautiful artwork, photography, and her unique cigar purses that she shared with her friends. Whenever she came to Illinois to visit, she would always have a gift for her friends. No one could ever imagine having a friend like Phyllis. You will always remain in my heart, my lifetime friend!

My sister and my friend, I will miss all of our phone calls to each other. I will remember you when I look at all the beautiful stain glass, knitted pieces and crafts you made for me. I will remember how you put so much thought into every gift you gave. I will cherish the memories of coming to visit and having fun around the pool or going to the Botanical gardens. I will miss the best every chamellas. I will laugh every time I think of the practical jokes you would play on Renee’, like when you made her believe you were running out of gas taking her to the airport or when you tricked her into drinking dish soap.

Phyllis was my childhood friend. We lived in the same neighborhood and attended the same schools. We spent many happy times together growing up. As adults we just picked up where we left off. We share so much history. I count her friendship as a rare special bond that's hard to duplicate. Her sense of style, class, hospitality, and honest to goodness friendship will be so very missed. But the fond memories live on. My heart aches with Ken, Lisa, Jenny, her beloved grandsons, and all those who know and love her.

Our 5 year old daughter remembers Phyllis this way..."she was kind, she was cute and she gave us lots of things", all very true! Our daughters always knew they were in for a treat when Mrs. Koppelman called asking if she could bring over something she had for the girls. Sometimes it was a souvenir she had picked up from her travels and sometimes it was something she made by hand. And occasionally notes would be passed from door to door...a barely legible note/drawing from a 6 year old girl would be returned with a lovely drawing and note from "Mrs. Kopp". Phyllis, your kindness and thoughtfulness will not be forgotten. Ken and family, we are thinking of you and sending you love.

Phyllis was so many things to me, a sister, a friend, a teacher, a confidant. She was my surrogate mom. She taught me how to drive, to be creative and create art, to cook and bake. 23 years ago she taught me how to be a loving mom. She took a junk room and turned it into a beautiful nursery for my son.
When I had major surgery (years ago) she nursed me back to health. She cooked, cleaned and brought home movies that were TOO FUNNY FOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY. We shared so many laughs. Even in severe pain we found something to laugh about. I have so many memories of loving and fun times, too many to share here.
I want to thank Ken for being a fabulous husband to my sister. Phyllis was a huge part of my life, my heart aches I miss her so much. But I know she is no longer suffering, she is at peace. Phyl, give my love to mom, dad, aunt Emma and grandma Paluzzi. Thank you for loving me and being a great sister.

My mother and Phyl's dad were brother and sister. On the rare occasions that the Pittsenbarger families got together and cousins got acquainted with one another, I am so glad that Phyl & I became friends. We would spend summers visiting each other and always having a blast. Of course, we all know who provided the "blast" part! You wild and crazy girl, I love you and will miss you terribly. Heaven is experiencing the "blast" now.

I have been friends with Phyllis since H.S. One of my very best memories with Phyllis was at her house in AZ. She had several of us H.S. friends come visit the year we all turned 40. I have never laughed so hard or had so much fun. Phyllis, I thank you for truly one of the best times of my life.
To Ken and family - my heartfelt sympathies. I cannot make the memorial but my heart will be there that day.
Rest in peace my beautiful friend.

Although I did not know Phyllis, I worked with Ken and through him got to know her. Ken would readily admit behind every great man is an even greater woman. I am so sorry for the entire family; Ken, the children/spouses and grandchildren, friends and others will miss her terribly as a hole is left in their lives and hearts. Many happy memories, lessons, recipes, and creativity will remmind you of her and bring you joy.

To Ken and all the family,
Vince and I wish to extend our deepest sympathy. In quiet moments to come we will always remember our wonderful days together in Italy. We will always remember the joy, the positive attitude and caring Phyllis extended to everyone around her. She will be missed. Her life was too short. She will always remain a wonderful example to all who met and knew her.... Phyllis was talented in so many ways.... now resting in peace without pain....

To my very best friend of 50 years. I will remember you forever Phyllis for so many things. Some of the things that come to mind are your love and pride for your family, your beautiful artistic talent and your classic style and love for jewelry. How you saw beauty in the mountains, Sedona and even the smallest butterfly. Your love for adventure in life and the compassion you had for all people. But most of all I'll remember your great sense of humor even through the roughest times. You could tell a great story and make me laugh. You were so strong through it all and I will miss you always. Rest in peace my friend. Love, Jean

I always remember Mrs. Koppelman having a smile. She was sweet and kind and could always make us laugh. I remember once she was our substitute teacher in 8th grade. Jen was in our class and was a little nervous about having her mom there. I remember she stood in front of the class and said "Hello, I'm Mrs. Koppelman - NO relation to Jenny!" and we all laughed. It broke the tension and it all turned out to be ok. I appreciated the way she took an interest in us and was always upbeat and happy. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I know she will be missed.

Phyllis was the most gentle and kind person that I think I have ever met. I remember when we used to sit in her kitchen and discuss dividing up our Arizona Diamondback season tickets amoung about 6 of us. She would make sure that everyone was taken care of and would laugh at our nonsense. My thoughts and prayers are with the family as I know that Phyllis is safe and sound in our Heavenly Father's arms. What a tremendous legacy and life to celebrate. God Bless.

Phyllis was the "style" for our neighborhood. The gracious hostess and the encourager. The first thing I did when I moved to this neighborhood was take a class with Phyllis on designing a gourd. No way would I have attempted that on my own! What a talent and a truely beautiful spirit. For my husband Rob and I, we were very lucky to have met her in this big world by living across the street.
