Memorial
This is not goodbye
It is only farewell for a little while
When we think of you
We will think of our wonderful
memories and we'll smile,
You touched our lives in your own special way.
Goodbye Momma......

A TIME TO BE BORN

It was a joyous occasion in the home of the late Clarence Butler & Marion Butler on February 10, 1945 in the settlement of Green Castle, Eleuthera where their bouncing baby girl was born. They named their special gift Veronica Monica Butler, affectionately called "Mon".

A TIME TO LEARN

During "Mon’s early years she attended the Green Castle All Age School. Upon completion she went on to seek employment.

A TIME TO LOVE

Monica met and fell in love with Alfred Munnings Sr. Monica & Alfred later join hands in Holy Matrimony in 1985.

A TIME TO WORK

At a tender age Monica began employment in the hotel industry at various resorts such as Rock Sound Club, King & Knights, Cotton Bay Club and Venta Club. Because of the love for what enjoyed doing she took several courses in Bahamas Host Training. Upon her early retirement she was a self-employed vendor at the Princess Cay, Bannerman Town, Eleuthera until the time she became ill in October 2008 and could no longer continue doing what she love doing.

A TIME TO DIE

During the week of October 19, 2008 Monica took ill while at her residence in Green Castle, Eleuthera. Her son Alfred was by her side and realized that she needed to seek medical attention right away. Monica’s mother Marion, bought her to Nassau and she was rushed to the accident & emergency at the Princess Margaret Hospital where she was admitted on Saturday October 25, 2008 and spent the next two weeks undergoing medical treatment.

Upon her discharge she lived with her daughter Laverne Percentie in Millennium Gardens until the time of her departure. During those last months "Mon" spent with her children she frequently talked about returning to Green Castle especially for the up coming Easter holiday (2009). No doubt Momma knew that one day she would leave her mother, children and grandchildren and go home to be with the Lord, but being the that courageous Soldier at Heart she fought her battle to the end .
Over the last three months Monica enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren especially Danielle, Andrea, Brittney & Darius. We all looked forward to seeing her each day and ensuring that she kept up with her follow-up appointments at the hospital. We waited and prayed for the day that Momma would receive her complete healing and return home, where she would be able to enjoy being among those who she loved dearly.

On Wednesday February 25th, 2009 while in the care of her son Brad he noticed that she was not herself and became very ill. Brad called his older sisters and informed them of Momma’s condition and decided that she should see the doctor. Again she was rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital and was admitted to the Female Medical II ward until she quietly slipped into eternity at 10: p.m. on Sunday March 8th, 2009.

A life well lived, a love well known,
A precious gift gone too soon.
