Miriam Ann Cromer went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 19, 2015. Her passing was quick and unexpected but she was peaceful and with family when she left. Her love of the Lord provided great strength and peace throughout her life but especially in her final days.

Miriam leaves behind family and friends that will miss her each day. She spent her entire life in service to others. Whether it was to the Lord, family, friends, patients or mere acquaintances, she had a unique gift of identifying a need and responding to it.

She was loved by her husband, John, her partner in life for 57 years.

She was loved by her children, Jane and her husband Michael, Mike and his wife Carol, Mark and his wife Sandy, and Myron and his wife Elyse.

She was loved by her 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was loved by her sisters and brother, Ruby, Esther, Eugene, Eleanor (2014) and Nancy.

Miriam was born and raised in Ohio. She knew what she wanted to do in life when she was taken sick as a little girl and was tended to by caring nurses. She received her Registered Nursing license in 1956 and finished her "official" nursing career as an award winning Director of Nursing at Menorah Manor in St. Petersburg. During her career she was involved in all areas of nursing and was once accused of doing too much to help patients. Even after her retirement she continued to respond to the needs of others. Something that gave her great joy.

Her second full time career (but even more important to her) was as a wife and Mother. She took great pride in providing a loving, caring, clean home for her family. She always made sure her family was clothed and fed regardless of the location, situation or financial position that was presented.

Later in life, it brought her great joy that all of her children were in loving relationships and had started families of their own.

To honor her service and commitment to helping others the Miriam A Cromer, RN Nursing Scholarship has been established. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to nursing students at Indiana Wesleyan University. Please make a donation in lieu of flowers.

Dear John-we did not know your wonderful Miriam for very long, however from the first time meeting her at Idlewild we were drawn to her sweet personality. She always treated us as if we were long time friends and she was eager to visit with us, never looking over her shoulder to see someone else but focused on us. We grieve with you as you adjust to this profound loss in your life. Our heartfelt condolences as well to all the members of your family. John&Sherry Louer

My love and prayers go out for you and your family on the loss of Miriam. She was my BFF in school at Botkins, Ohio. Many great memories from that time period of our lives. I remember the sleep-overs the giggling, going to church with her family. She always be that special friend to me. Sorry I could not come to the memorial, health reasons, but she has been in my thoughts all morning. Blessings to you and her family

Sorry to hear of your loss. Death is something never easy to deal with. It leaves hearts heavy filled with pain and sadness. We can be thankful for God's word the Bible, which provides us with a measure of comfort and a hope for the future. Revelation 21:3, 4 tells us that soon God will rid the earth of death and its painful effects forever. Be of good cheer to know that soon your dead loved one will come back to life here on earth!

As we remember Miriam we will miss her warm smile, her sparkling eyes and cheerful words of optimism and hope, her gracious hospitality and her caring spirit in listening and prayer for us. We will always remember the trip we took together to Branson and the fun we had that week. The meals we shared, the games we played, and the laugher. What a precious friend. We will continue to pray for you, John, and your precious family. We love you!
