This site is dedicated to Melodye Capitani, beloved Mom, Aunt, and friend who unexpectedly passed away in her sleep on January 7, 2010.

Mom basically drafted the below obituary herself. She left a document "In the Event of my Death' to help us out when she died. Always considering others before herself even after she left this body. I'm still in total shock doing the next right thing. There really are no words to adequately describe this vibrant, beautiful woman who was my Mother and best friend....

CAPITANI, Melodye Wysowski age 65, passed away in Nashville, TN on January 7, 2010. Melodye was born January 2, 1945 in New York, NY. She grew up in Clinton, CT and was a graduate of Morgan High School. Melodye moved to Nashville, TN in 1993, where she resided at the time of her death. She is survived by the loves of her life – her son Christopher and her daughter Dina. She is predeceased by her father and mother, George and Louise Wysowski and her brother, Ronald Wysowski, all of Clinton, CT.

"Dina, I know that mere words will not convey my sorrow for your loss. But please know that you and Chris are both in my prayers. It occurred to me that I've known your mom almost as long as I've known you and you're probably my oldest friend in Nashville.

Melodye was a bright light who's laughter was contagious and you have that same spirit within you, and she will always be that close.

It has always been clear what a strong bond you and your mom had and I know that she will be with you always.

"In my mind, I can still see my Aunt Dee as I did as a kid, young, pretty, dressed like Sandra Dee in all her 1960's style, flared skirts and cashmere sweaters..her teased blonde hair perfectly done, and how beautiful she always was, and when she and my uncle would arrive at our house or Grandma's, it was so exciting.. like a movie star couple they'd come in and the party began... they had such fun and passion to match. I loved her big laugh, and how she was pressent with you and always you felt like she really wanted to know you... In the last few years I am so grateful that she came to California a couple of times and we had some nice time to reconnect and I was so grateful for our friendship .. no b.s. there.. just honest sharing and caring.. what a wonderful woman.. "Dina and I were roommates in college and after ... when Melodye moved to Nashville she took me under her wing and was like a mother to me and was there for me and my son Scott for 7 long years!

I remember our first Thanksgiving together ... trying to cook a frozen turkey. I remember the endless times she would tell me what was right and I would do the complete opposite. I remember sharing our love of poetry. I remember her throwing me a 'good-bye' party when I moved back to PA.

We loved to laugh and cry and pray and dream of brighter days! Her faith was unshakeable and her spirit was a shining example of God's love.

I cherished the years we spent together and now I cherish them even more ... Melodye will be forever missed and never forgotten.

I send you both my love in your time of grief and pain.

I met Mel in early 2000, when I rented one of her rooms. We became fast friends the first day. We connected on a level that not very many people are able to achieve, the bond that her and I shared was beyond ordinary friendship.
I will always remember my dear dear friend as being the global light for all in need of friendship, a confidant, a shoulder to cry on, or someone to share a laugh with, just a pillar of strength, her eyes always shining bright with love, joy, and enthusiasm, (especially when talking about her children) always a reassuring smile, her heart as hugh as the planet earth, she was always there for those she loved and cherrished, in good and bad times. Mel was not afraid to go head to head for any cause or issue she strongly believed worth while. There was a bright spirit with in Mel, that, no matter how difficult the times were or the adversity, she never wavered in that spirit, she would say, GOD has a plan, How blessed I am to have my children Chris and Dina, the loves of my life" and Roxy (her beloved dog and companion)
Many a night her and I sat up until dawn the next morning talking and/or debating something or another, and just laugh or cry because the sun was rising and there we sat drinking coffee and talking.
I am so thankful to have had Mel spend time with me at my home in PS, to see her so relaxed, and to be able to take the journey from PS CA through Dallas TX to visit Scott (her nephew)and then on into Nashville TN.
The fun and laughter we shared, I can still hear her say, if Chris and Dina knew what we were doing they would flip, and she would bust into one of her spirited laughs, eyes full of happiness and joy, and just so happy to be going and doing she would say.
I often called us three's company ( Mel, Shirley, Kenneth-IE me) we have created a 3 way bond to last the test of time and eternity. the times we have shared together were ever lasting, thank you Mel, I love and miss you and you will forever be in my heart, and I know you are looking down on all of us with your glorious love and mothering heart.
Be happy in your journey home to God and your new life in heaven, where you so richly belong, now at peace with the beautiful angels surrounding you and welcoming you home, as you are now yourself an angel, as you were here to so many on earth!!!!

"What wonderful times we had! Laughing, sharing at S.O.S. (support of singles). I remember one time her geting into my car going to Annies Birthday party........ Linda in the front Mel in the back seat. She forgot to closs the door and as I turned onto Gallatin she would have flown out the door if not for her seat belt! We laughed so hard we cried! We always had a blast. Mel was a founding member of the Goonie Girls. We love and miss you Mel. I'm a little jealous, prepare the way my friend."

"Aunt Dee was an Angel, always loving and sincere! Her beauty glowed and her entire aura was warm and fun! That smile was priceless! We are so grateful she came to our wedding in CA in June of '08, her presence was a gift and her words so real. "I met Melodye 47 years ago, she was at the young age of 18. while I was to meet friends at the Sabrook Bowling alley, when I arrived, I made my way directly to the lanes where they were bowling in a league, and Melodye was just finishing up her turn at bowling. she caught my eye with her stunning beauty, with eyes that sparkled, and a smile that was as bright as her personality. I was introduced through a mutual friend, and we began dating and ultimately married and had two wonderful children. Melodye was an inspiration not only to myself, but my family as well, and to all that she met through out her beautiful life.
I will miss the times that the four of us have shared through out the years, whether it be the movies, boating on the lake, sharing dinner together, when I am coming through Nashville from Florida on my way to Connecticut, or for the Holidays, Chris and Dina always planned for all of us to be together as a family.

I will miss Meloyde dearly, she meant so much not only to myself but to all who was fortunate enough to have been in her life.

"I am so sorry to hear this news. I would like to represent my family, the Piampianos, when saying how sorry we all are for the loss of such a bright, compassionate, genuine woman. Her smile, like her heart, so gregarious and sincere you couldn't help but find yourself drawn to her. The last time I saw her was five years ago in the Disneyland Hotel celebrating our cousin Kim’s star on the Walk of Fame.
