Mary Zita Lazarus

September 7, 1952

August 30, 1999

This site is dedicated to Mary Lazarus. In honor of the 10th anniversary we have decided to create this memorial page in remembrance of Mary.

“We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday and days before that too.
We think of you in silence, we often speak your name;
all we have are memories and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake which will never part.
God has you in his keeping; we have you in our hearts.”

The years just get away from me. I did not realize it had been that long since Mary passed away. She was just full of energy, always made you smile, and enjoyed life. Lindsay, you were both her and your dads' whole life. Mary always liked the holidays. Especially Christmas! Sue and I were there for many parties. Mary will always be in my memories!!!

Kay Sue was the first person I met In Az. Little Mary Zita was the second,a little bundle of trouble for two teenagers,We were always on the look for that blue bike,blonde hair a flyen, and racing into the house to report on Sue and I.She was everywhere,like a tornado, soon after she had made her report, Mary would call for Sue and I She would begin to defend herself,much of the time to no avail, Mary was good at this . Then the next thing I would be told I'm calling your Mother' I actually feared her at times.As the years progressed I watched her grow into a thoughtful and caring adult,. Wife and Mother.I often drive down Hazelwood,and recall all of the good times. I also remember the wonderful Christmas Eve parties that Mary and Dennis hosted.I think of Mary often,will never forget the joy she brought to others, We were all fortunate to have her as long as we did.She was a part of the fabric in our lives that improved those around her. Your mother is smiling down from heaven. There isn't a day goes by that I don't think of her. Since today would have been your mother's 57th birthday, I called Cindy to comnmiserate about her. There isn't a day goes by that I don't think of her. She was more than a friend to me; she was family. I miss her terribly. I love the pictures of her. I hope that you and your dad are well. I think of you both often.
Take care!

Nice page, Lindsay! My memories are quite different than others - mostly of Mary's younger years as the pesky little sister of Sue and Kenny who took such good care of her. She was a go getter and usually managed to steal the show. Although I only interacted with her a few times after she became a wife and mother, she exhibited a love for her family that was unquestionable. There is definitely a void in the Smith-Lazarus family without her but so glad she is upstairs watching over her family and friends.

"Your Mom meant so much to me as I'm sure she did to many people. She gave so much of herself and her love and left us too soon."
