Surely if you looked up the word unconditional love you would see a picture of my sister. She was a true Spirit of love, laughter, peace..I could go on and on forever...like her Spirit always will in whomever she touched. She was a lady, a teacher, and the best person I have ever known.

I miss you Carolyn..you are forever my hero!

Early this morning, my best friend and high priestess (we HPs-ed each other, sort of) Lyrica Moondawn, who had been the soul and big overflowing heart of our trad and an irreplaceable part of the Louisville Pagan community for
20+ years, died suddenly of
heart and renal failure secondary to a system-wide infection. cause unknown.

She was 51 , and I had officiated at her Croning ceremony less than a year ago.

She worshipped mainly with Wiccans, but still considered herself a Druid "with Discordian leanings". (Leanings, my foot. A foot-high troll wig at a Mabon rite is not "leanings".:) ) Her husband Beau died
before I knew her; they had no children. But she was a mom-figure to
many young and not-young local Pagans, and taught many of them to initiation level.

Her storytelling was well known and loved locally; she won at least one national bardic competition, and the fact that I only learned that recently (and not from her!) tells you a lot about her modesty. Her home was always open for a meal or a bed if someone needed one, and her rusty-gate-hinge laugh and full-throated cackle were among my
favorite sounds. She survived a hard childhood and adult homelessness
to become who she was.

"I celebrate Lyrica-the joy of her smile & laugh, the gentleness of her soul, & the generosity of her heart. She was a blessing to us all & we are richer for her life and poorer for her passing. Bright blessings to her and all her extended family."
