April 28, 2018

This site is dedicated to the memory of Linda Marie Buter. Linda passed on April 28, 2018, while fighting an incredibly courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Linda was an adoring mother, a loving wife, an expert baker, a lover of dogs, and the most amazing friend you could ever have. She was a true warrior, and never stopped supporting her loving husband, Ross, and her adventurous son, Matthew, and Matthew's girlfriend, Cristen. Linda did everything she could to try to stay here with us. She was our hero and will be immensely missed.

In lieu of flowers, we invite those wishing to make a contribution in Linda’s memory to visit the following organizations:

-Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada:
Candlelighters dedicates itself to the support of families with children fighting cancer. As a loving mom, Linda would have wanted to do everything in her power to help families impacted by the devastating disease. To make a donation in memory of Linda, please visit:

-Las Vegas Hot-Diggity Dachshund Rescue:
This organization was dear to Linda’s heart because it is where she and her husband found their sweet girl, Button. Button, along with her dachshund brother Mister Moose, are Linda's beloved fur babies who stayed by her side devotedly during her fight. To make a donation in memory of Linda which will ensure that more dachshunds can be placed in loving homes, please visit:

Please use this site to share stories and memories of Linda, so that we can all learn more about the wonderful impact she made on the lives of her family, friends, and loved ones.

To honor her wishes, a private celebration of Linda's life for family will take place at her home.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

Dear Buter family,

My heartfelt condolences are extended to you all for the loss of your dear wife, mother, and friend, Linda. May you find comfort in the words of our loving heavenly Father, who has given us a wonderful hope for our loved ones who have passed away. At John 5:28 & 29, God promises, "The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his [Jesus Christ's] voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life." How we look forward to the fulfillment of this loving promise, when we will be reunited with our loved ones who have passed away! Until that time arrives, may your fond memories of Ms. Buter bring you solace at this difficult time.

I puzzled over my relationship status as Linda was really more a sister than a sister-in-law. I cherish the many talks we had. Whether she agreed or not, there was never any judgment and ALWAYS an abundance of love, support and compassion. I remember every apartment or house that she and Ross had, from their first little place in Long Beach to their current showplace in Henderson, as being lovely and warm. She had impeccable taste. It always amazed me that, no matter the size of the house, Linda kept it up pretty much herself. And that was while she was working as well. She had energy and strength that I could only hope for on my best day. While in later years we didn't see each other or talk as much as we used to, there was a comfort in knowing she was there. I, like many, am sad that she is no longer with us. But I am glad that her struggle is over and feel a different sense of comfort in knowing that she now watches over those she loves. I feel blessed to be one of them.

Linda was the ULTIMATE hostess. One of her many talents was hospitality. You know it was one of her talents because it was so effortless for her. AND this girl could cook! Our family went to Hawaii a couple of years ago and everyone who went (I think there were 12 of us) said that the BEST meals we had were the ones that Linda and Ross made at home. HANDS DOWN! She was a woman of incredible beauty inside and out. She was elegant and classy and everything she put her hand to was beautiful whether decorating or even the way she dressed. I am so proud to have known this woman. She graced my life in such an incredible way. Thank you Linda for all that you did and all that you brought to my life! I love you.

Linda was my hero. She had such a beautiful soul. I remember that she also had a feisty spirit to her which I loved so much. My sister Trina and I went to visit her and Ross in February. the morning after our arrival she and Ross said we are going to take you on a nice hike. Well here was Linda and Trina on the "nice" hike and as we were on mile 5 Ross and I were way behind them huffing and puffing and there was Linda and Trina looking back at us with a look of "are you kidding me" :-) We laughed that this woman who was fighting this TERRIBLE disease could have run circles around me and sorry Ross you too ;-). She was a warrior up until the end. Her spirit will ALWAYS be with us and for that I am forever thankful.
