In the early morning hours of September 30th, we lost our beloved Kenny. While we attempt to come to terms with our new reality, we take solace in knowing that we are so very fortunate to have been part of his too-short life.

Friends, family, neighbors, teachers…we were all touched in some way by Kenny. We will always remember his outgoing personality, boundless charm, and creative wit.

Many of us have stories that illustrate these qualities that he possessed in such abundance. From the Elvis shtick at the 2004 Clifford Elementary Halloween party to the way he mimicked the telemarketers calling from Mumbai when he answered the phone at dinner time, lego airplanes, camping at New Brighton, snowmobiling and sledding in the mountains, waves at the beach, The Tech, Hiller, movies, music, drawing, and lets not forget his morning ritual: a quiet bowl of cereal over the morning newspaper. He was all of this and more.

Please use this site as an opportunity to share your memories while we celebrate Kenny's life.


October 22nd

It has now been three weeks since our Kenny left us. In this time, we are experiencing the entire spectrum of emotions as we relive the joy that was Kenny and feel the pain and sorrow of his passing. We also feel a tremendous debt of gratitude over the outpouring of support from friends and relatives. And so we offer a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped us through this incredibly difficult time. We consider this a true sign of the impact that our Kenny had on so many of you. He was one of a kind.
As for this website, we are not sure how much longer it will stay up, so please take a moment to view the pictures (there are some new ones) and sign in as a guest, leave a “candle”, or post a favorite story or memory of Kenny. We are soon going to have a book made from all of the many contributions to this site and very much want to include yours.

I don't know if you remember me, I met you at one of the Greater Bay events when we were acquired by Wells Fargo. I heard about Kenny's passing from April Pardini, who is now my manager. This month marks the 3rd anniversary of my child's passing. I still feel the pain though it is not as suffocating. "i can't remember the times in little hands, but i remember the last time i saw kenny ..... it was in 2009, we were at a party at the mithas , i went to go see what he was doing and he was playing his nintendo ds, i said hi and he said hi back, i asked what he was playig and he explained the whole game to me while he was playing, i didn't feel ignored, and i felt like anyone else. his presnce was like something special, i guess he just made the game sound so much less dificult, i understood the video game for the first time. the way he explained it the way he concentrated the way he had this certain glow to him like nothing n the world could ever go wrong. his death was a tragedy when i heard about it. life is a wonderful thing and nothing can ever take kenny's memory away from us. i wish he wwere still here and i wish i could see him just one more time, but i can't i want him to be here as much as anyone else does. long live kenny stratz!!!

And then there are the memories from camping...it was so strange to be there this past weekend without him playing on the beach, poking a stick in the fire, or making us laugh at the Talent Show. This morning, the sky was the same color as it was when we last walked Sadie, when we talked about what we would do next summer.

Now, that summer has past. And not as we planned.

When I woke up Kathryn, your bedroom is the same dimly lit shade of gray as it was that morning. That morning when you left us.

And I still see you in your room. I see you walking Sadie alongside the rising sun, in the yard, running up the steps at Clifford, everywhere I go. You are with me. And I with you.

And so, one year into this new life, I reflect upon what your loss has meant to me, our family and to everyone you touched. As I did yesterday, as I will tomorrow.

Erika, Paul & Kathryn,
It's been almost a year now and we still miss Kenny so much. We have such great memories of Kenny that we will always cherish...from him grinning at us as he wiggled across the floor at Playgroup as an infant, to his exploring Little Hands and SPNS to the beat of his own drum as a toddler, and then later, the never disappointing "Kenny idioms" as he walked in the room with a smile. And then there are the memories from camping...it was so strange to be there this past weekend without him playing on the beach, poking a stick in the fire, or making us laugh at the Talent Show. You three have been incredible through this hard journey and have taught us all so much. Please know we are here for you whenever you need us.
