I heard this story, on a website, I sadly don't remember where or how I discovered it...What happened to this sweet, innocent child...is so horrid and tragic. Her father was a disturbed man, but hopefully, she is now far away from the man that brought her downfall. I may be an atheist, but I do hope and believe she is resting in peace...

Dear Judith,

I first came across your story about 3 months ago while I was browsing videos on YouTube. I was very surprised and sadden to discover that one of the characters in my favorite childhood movie "The Land before Time", was voiced by someone who met such a tragic end at such a young age.

I can relate to your story very much because I also grew up in an abusive home and many of your circumstances were very similar to mine. I wish I could have met you in this life but I know you are in a better place and at peace now. Please continue to watch over us all from heaven my guardian angel.

Dear Judith Eva Barsi
To be honest, my story is similar to Mark's above . I was just looking through videos online and I found a similar one of child stars who died young and for some reason your story just stood out. So I wanted to find out more about you. I don't know why, maybe it was just curiosity or empathy. When I learned how you died, how you where abused and hurt by your own father, and how no one was able to save you and your mother in time, I nearly broke down. You were so young and sweet and so successful. What you did in the ten years of your life is more than some people do in an entire lifetime. I remember watching "The land Before Time" as a child and Ducky was one of my favorite characters (along with spike, of course). I watched some more clips of you in Growing Pains, Slam Dance, A Family Again, St. Elsewhere, Cagney and Lacey, and so many more online. You Rocked it. You were so sweet and charming, yet smart for your age and all of the people who worked with you said you were a delight. I Feel like I would have been one of your friends if we had grown up together, but sadly you died before my parents even got married ( I was born in 1999). For someone who had a pretty good childhood, I can't even imagine how scared you must have been when your dad got drunk or angry. He shouldn't have even thought of hurting you and no child should have to suffer like you did or have to die like you did. I can't tell you how sorry I am for you and your mother. I wish I could go back in time and help you, hug you, save you. Tragically, I can't but I hope you get everything that you want up in heaven and I hope that this message reaches you somehow. If you where alive today, you would be 39 years old. Maybe you would have a little girl of your own or be the most famous actress in the world. When I grow up, I want to have a little girl and name her Judith (Jodi for short) in your memory. Once again, I hope your with your mother in a place where no one can hurt you. Your story has been on my mind, not stop, for the past few weeks, so I just had to let it all out. Your in a better place right now and you have a beautiful grave next to your mother which I hope to visit one day. You will never be forgotten and will live in our hearts forever. Rest In Peace Judith, Our concrete angel, Yep, Yep, Yep!

Many people give pet names to their prized possessions. When I went to name my chess set I was going to name it after some long dead rock star e.g. Jimmy or Kurt. Growing up in the 70's it a sort of obligation. As I was exploring YouTube for inspiration there was a "related" window that popped up. One of the videos was about child stars that died young. Out of curiosity I watched it. One of the actresses in the video was a Judith Barsi. She was only 10 when she died and I was curious about her death. After I did some research and then remembering about her death just after I graduated college I named my chess set after her, Judith. She was the descent of Hungarian immigrants who settled in Los Angeles. She was very small, 3' 8" at age 10 which is average for age 5 1/2. Because of her idiopathic dwarfism she was playing characters much younger that she was. She had a six figure income in the middle 80's. Long story short her father became so insanely jealous of her he decided to kill her! The links below will give you all of the details:

Last summer I visited her grave. As I touched the stone it was like all of the anger for many of the people I was forced to grow up with disappeared and I haven't felt it since. If there is a life after this one I want to meet her.
