Joseph C. Koshy, 77, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Tahoe Pacific Hospital due to illness. He was born in India on February 19, 1932 and became a Nevada resident in 1974.

He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Maria Koshy; sons, Anil and Anoop Koshy; daughter-in-law, Teena Thomas; and granddaughters, Kara and Sophia. Joseph Koshy is preceded in death by his son, Ajit John Koshy.

In his early years, Joseph Koshy was instrumental in the development and growth of the church choir in his home town in India. He carried this passion when he immigrated to the United States. He has been involved in many musical productions in Reno and abroad. Joseph also took an active interest in developing and fostering the East Indian community in Northern Nevada. Through him, many families have found friendship and guidance while acclimating to western culture.

He was a long standing member of the Church of South India and Trinity Episcopal Church.

Koshy uncle was one of the nicest and bestest human beings we have ever met in our lives. Seldom does a person welcome strangers into his home like family.
We still remember him, every time we are happy and sad-- For he was the first one who made us feel home in a strange land.
We miss you!!

Our friendship started in 84 till I moved to Houston in 98. He was an older brother to me. I am not able to come over there to be a part in his funeral services due to a whipple procedure surgery on me.I pray for him and I am sure, he is now already in heaven singing with the saints and angels in front of God, the Creator.
