Hello, and thank you for visiting my memorial for Joleen.
First I'd like to offer a little background information on myself and how we met. I have been a traveler since 1982. Searching for adventure in Alaska, Hawaii and most of the western and southern U.S.-- When I hit forty years old I started thinking about settling down. In January 2007, I landed myself in St.George,Utah cooking at a nursing home called Porters.(I was waiting for winter to get over with so I could go exploring the places in the Rockies I used to visit in the 1990's)
Cooking at Porters was a lot of fun, especially working with Andy my co-cook. The Nurses and the Aides were nice to work with too. And of course the patients could really grow on you.
Well the hours weren't quite what I was looking for, so I found another job making fishing lures and gave notice at Porters. When I told Joleen I wouldn't be working there any more,it was my last day, something happened and Joleen was coming into the kitchen to talk to me more often than usual. By the end of the work day I knew Joleen really liked me, and my suspicions were right. When I got ready to leave she handed me a card to read later.
When I got home and opened the card, I smiled. She wrote that, if I wasn't involved with anyone, would I like to go out for coffee or something. Well now, I couldn't pass up an opportunity like that, Because I hadn't been on a date in some time.
So here I am, Matthew Gibbs, living in a Bunk-House, not looking for love, but always open for new adventures.-- On the second date I was really liking Miss Joleen R.N. One of our conversations focused on sensitivity. So I told her how at the end of the movie "Ghost" my emotions got the better of me, and I got all misty eyed. On our next date she gave me one of those
musical greeting cards with the song "Unchained Melodies". Now I was really smitten with her. I knew we were going to get close. I felt in my heart that I was falling in love.
After two weeks of seeing each other every day, I got down on one knee and proposed my love for her. She Accepted and we were married at the Elks Lodge, on April 21,2007.
It was a grand affair on a shoe-string budget, and it was just right for us. My uncle Perry drove my Grandmother down from Redding, a few of Joleen's co-workers came and even a patient from Porters came with her daughter. My good friends, John and Judy drove all the way from Denver to be there. My new boss, Bret was my best man and the Court Justice who married us was perfect. The memories I cherish most are the happy ones.
Well, after a brief honeymoon in Las Vegas,(that was an adventure in itself),we settled into life as husband and wife.
I struggled to adjust to the family life, and so did Joleen struggle to help me with adjusting. On one happy note a grandson was born for Joleen, and she loved to dote on baby Kaelor, He was very special for her.
I could go on and on about our life together, but Joleen was struggling more than she let on to me. The pressure she must have been feeling at the end must have been too great to handle and she left us without a chance to kiss and make-up. I feel it is my cross to bear, the fact that I wasn't there to catch her as she was falling. Please forgive me Joleen, I will love you always. Forever and a day my B.P.P.
Only God knows how much I miss you Joleen.

Thank You,
Mr. Matthew Owen Gibbs
