"Prepare to meet me in Heaven."

This memorial website was created to celebrate the life and preserve our recollections of John. Please join us in keeping John's memory alive by sharing your favorite stories, photos and memorable moments from the life of John. Your contribution will be a fitting tribute, as well as a gift to all who knew and loved John. He will be greatly missed but always alive in our hearts.

John grew up apart of a military family. His father was enlisted in the Airforce which gave the family many opportunities to travel and live in several places throughout the world. He talked most about when his father was stationed in Newfoundland. During the winter there it would snow until the tops of cars were completely covered and as kids, him and his three older sisters thought this was very exciting.

His first job was at Jack in the Box but soon after, he began working for Lockheed in 1971. He worked really hard between the time his first daughter, Jenni, was born in 1973 and his second daughter, Melissa, was born in 1984 to move up the ladder at Lockheed. During this gap of time was also when he met and became great friends with Jack. Him and Jack remained best of friends throughout the remainder of his life.

He was a great father! He attended all school programs, dance recitals, soccer games, doctor's and orthodontist's appointments. He cared more about his two daughters than any other two people in the world. He also loved his cats! Tiger was his first cat who lived to the age of 18 years old. Tiger was cremated and he always said that the day he dies Tiger's ern was to go with him. After Tiger's passing a little kitten named Cody became his new baby. Cody loved him and always brought a smile to his face.

Beginning in about 2004 he also developed a huge interest in Cher. It started when he ordered a DVD set of the Sonny & Cher show. He loved it because it reminded him of that time era. Soon enough the one DVD set turned into many many Cher CDs and Cher memorabilia. His daughter Melissa surprised him with Cher concert tickets for Christmas in 2004. The concert in Bakersfield, CA left him eager to see more so in April of 2005 he, Melissa, Jenni and Jason all went to the Hollywood bowl for Cher's final concert. He had the time of his life! After that he made sure to please the crowd at every party by singing his own renditions of "Believe" and "Half-breed" karaoke.

He lived a very plentiful life and a life that left a lasting impression on so many people. His fun and goofy personality is missed each and every day. He was a prankster, a person who loved to laugh, but most of all an AWESOME father, grandfather and friend.

"Father's are Angels Sent from Heaven!"

Uncle John was such a great person, even though i only got to see him a few times a year he would always be so lovable. He'd always say how much i had grown. He LOVED to play jokes and always had a new one every year. He was great!!

Growing up with Dad was always so much fun. He always made every holiday a big deal. He did everything in such an extravagant and huge way. I was the lucky kid who got 20 dollars per tooth from the tooth fairy, our house at Christmas time was the brightest house on the block and the scariest house during Halloween. I'll have to post pictures of the Christmas lights and pumpkins we carved to show you all how much effort and detail he put into everything he did. The special thing about it all is that he always did all of those things to make me happy. He really was the best Dad a girl could ever ask for! Since today is Valentine's Day I thought I would share the year that stands out most in my memory. When I was about 8 years old Dad went out and bought the biggest box of candy, a couple of stuffed animals and a HUGE plastic inflatable heart that said I Love You on it. He set it up on my bed and when I came over that weekend I walked into my room surprised to find it all. That was the last thing I expected to find (since I was only 8) so when I did it just lit up my whole day! I remember feeling so loved and happy that Dad thought of something so special to do for me. Valentine's Day has always meant a lot to me after that year and I always made sure to leave Dad a little stuffed animal and a box of chocolate (of course) on his chair this day every year. It's hard to go today without seeing him but I definitely will go take him flowers as a way to express my love for all the great years.

I know I have a picture of that huge inflatable heart so I'll have to dig that out too and post it.

Most of you already know this but I always called him "Pat". It started randomly and it just stuck. That was my nickname for him as weird as that may sound. He will always be "Pat" to me! His nicknames for me were "Sally" and "Lisa"...nobody else called me "Lisa" but him.

John always knew how to make everyone laugh. He was the greatest at dressing up for the Halloween parties. He went all out. He will be missed.

I always loved it when John would come down to Redlands to visit us for a couple of days. He was so proud of his girls and grandkids and would bring lots of photo albums. We'd sit on the couch and go through each and every picture. We would talk about our growing up together and the things we did that made memories for us as kids. I couldn't believe how he remembered things that I had long forgotten. He was a prankster even then. There was a time when we lived in Arkansas and it was summer. In those days kids played outside from morning until time for dinner. We'd come home to get drinks from the hose and then go play again. John thought it would be funny to put a dead frog in the hose nozzle and watch me drink from it. I only found out about this recently. He may not have survived past that summer if I'd known about it.I still love you brother!!
