Birth of son Steven John Kulm at Mount Kisco Hospital, NY
Moved to West Lafayette, IN where Jerry began position as Assistant Professor at Purdue University
Moved to Lexington, KY where Jerry began a position as Associate Professor. Joan worked as an assistant to a Thoroughbred sales agent and substitute teacher.
Moved to Falls Church, VA where Jerry began a position with the National Institute of Education.
Moved to Reston, VA. Jerry and Joan worked at the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, DC
Moved to College Station, TX where Jerry began a position as Professor. Joan worked as a financial assistant in the College of Architecture, then as a Supervisor of student teachers.
Moved to Bozeman, MT where Jerry began a position as Director of Evaluation for an NSF project. Joan worked as a Supervisor of student teachers and a docent at the Museum of the Rockies.
Moved to Reston, VA where Jerry was Program Director of Mathematics at Project 2061, American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Joan worked for the US Information Agency, coordinating a student exchange program with the Soviet Union.
Moved back to College Station, TX where Jerry was Curtis D. Robert Endowed Chair of Mathematics Education.

Joan enjoyed "retirement" on their 27 acre farm, helping to take care of the ducks, dogs, cats, and horses. She began dressage riding lessons on her warmblood mare Angel.
Moved to Apple Valley, CA when Jerry retired. Enjoyed being closer to Steve and grandkids.
Moved to Eagle, ID to be closer to the mountains, rivers, and lakes that Joan had grown to love in Montana.

"I had a Kentucky Derby party on Saturday. I did all the decorations and served KFC like we did. I thought so much about you and how much fun we had at our Derby parties. I miss and love you so much, especially at times like this."
