Memorial
Jean Austin Johnson died on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Juniper Village in Naples, Florida. She was 91.

Jean was born on December 24, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois. She received her nursing diploma from the Saint Margaret Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. In 1948 she married William Richard Johnson, a long-time Chicago friend. Jean worked for many years as a home health nurse in Bristol, Connecticut, where she and Bill raised three children. She and Bill shared a love of travel, touring extensively to exotic destinations throughout Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. Jean was an avid collector of dolls, and established the international doll exhibit at the Imagine Nation Children’s Museum. Jean loved nothing more than a house full of family and friends, and will be remembered for her warmth, good cheer, and legendary holiday and poolside parties.

She is survived by her husband William, her son Neil Johnson of Thomaston Connecticut, her daughter Kristine Chirlin of Derwood Maryland, her son Carl Johnson of Newton Massachusetts, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Avow Hospice of Naples Florida, who made her final days calm and comfortable.
