This site is dedicated to my best friend, Jay Wilger.

I first met Jay in February, 1990. I was fresh out of the U.S.Army and was starting a new job with Eastern Ambulance Service as a new paramedic. Jay was working as an EMT-I. My first impression was that he was arrogant, sarcastic and had a reply for anything. In fact, he was just like me. I liked him immediately.

Well it’s been eight years since we have spoken my friend. I talked to Jules today (and NO I wasn’t hitting on her as you have forbidden it). She sounds well and we both talked a lot about what we wish we had done and who should have told us about your struggles. I find there are days that I’m angry with you for not taking me up on my offer to bring you to Arizona. Your desire to stay close to your children was admirable but I wish you would have taken care of you first. Talk to you soon. -Jeff

Jay would come to the lake and, rather than join in the festivities, preferred to throw out a line and lose himself in a book. I loved that. We think of him often. He gave us some ambulance coffee mugs we drink tea out of and toast him every time we do.

We miss you. You gave me two wonderful grandchildren.
You would be so proud of them. Miss you

We worked 24hr shifts so after 3 every other days of 24 hour shifts we had 4 days off. More than once Jay I headed out from whatever station we were working at 0700 and headed west on I-80 from Lincoln. We took a left turn at York Ne and 11.5 hours later we arrived in Galveston Texas where we fished for the next 100 hours or so and then headed back to Nebraska. My most special memories of Jay are on these road trips. Miss you my friend- JJp

"Jay was one of my best friends in High School and after. When Jay and I went to Sanibel in Floria, Jay caught a great white shark and I never saw a bigger smile on anyones face. Those were GREAT TIMES thanks to my friend. I will never forget you."
