I met Hollis (or Hudetz as I knew him) in 1999 during boot camp. We quickly became friends and I can say his sense of humor helped get me through alot. Semper Fi Hudetz!

My dearest Elizabeth,
I just found this and my heart breaks for you. Please know that with all the years that have passed, I still think of you often. I know Hollis was a gift from God and you will have him in your arms, again, one day. My love and prayers are sent your way.

Oh, Hollis, I miss you so much!
I feel your presence in the things I encounter daily.
I know it's your spirit that shows me how I need to let go of sorrow and worry, and just enjoy the ride.
You were my own personal Buddha and you still are.
Watch over us and laugh heartily as you watch us learn from our life experiences!
I love you, son.

Peace, love, harmony, and humor. Hollis embraced and reflected these gifts as evidenced through the sharing of his siblings at his memorial services.
What a beautiful legacy for all of us to emulate as our journey continues. I will welcome the day when he is waiting to greet me with a hearty laugh, and hug.

I went online to grant wishes to people and saw your wish just a little while ago. I am in Houston and was ready to go donate blood for you when the link didn't work I googled your name and found this memorial page which made me cry. My eight year old son is by my side and saddened too and almost cried with me.

We are so sorry for the loss of Hollis.

You all are in my prayers.

Bob and I feel as though we are a distant aunt and uncle and our children Annie and Dan are distant cousins, of all John and Elizabeth's children. We are so sad to have lost Hollis. I guess we just assume things go on forever .....but grieving teaches us that is not true. If only Hollis did not have to be the one to teach us that lesson. WE miss having him out there. Love to you Hollis.

So blessed to have known Hollis. He was such a positive spirit and influenced so many. He will be sorely missed. Thinking positive thoughts for Crystal and the Hudetz family to get through this difficult time. You have all of us behind you, just as Hollis did.

I went to school with Hollis from 7th to 9th grade and always had a crush on him. It was his amazing talent and personality that drew me to him. He excelled at everything he did. His strength was amazing for all that he went through. His smile and uplifting personality will always be missed...my prayers and thoughts are with the Hudetz family.

The Diak family is saddened by this devasting news. We met Hollis when he dated our daughter Danielle. He was so talented with his singing and piano playing. I can vividly remember him entertaining our grandchildren on the piano and singing in the voice of Kermit the Frog. Our condolences to the Hudetz Family.

Dear Julie and Hudetz family,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I never met Hollis, but I can tell from knowing Julie, and everything said about him, that he was a remarkable young man. It is so unfortunate that he lost this battle, but now I hope you all get comfort in knowing he doesn't have to fight anymore, and he's in a better place. I'm sure he can now rest in peace, and the angels will lift him up so he can look down upon his friends and family, protect you, and help all of you heal.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours,

Kelly and Charlie Bayon

Hollis and I met August 1993 for the first time in Beginning Band class at Blevins Junior High. Throughout all of junior high and most of high school we were great friends. We continued in both band and choir together at least through Blevins then choir and a few other classes for much of high school. Our friendship started to wane as we got older and we didn't keep in touch much at all. We, like, most people got back in touch via Facebook and then kept up with each others lives virtually. I was blessed to have a chance to visit with Hollis and one of his amazing sisters, Aria, while on a work trip to Houston on August 31 this year.

Hollis was a tremendously bright person in spirit and intellect. I always enjoyed spending time with him even in those early teen years. He was the most talented person I ever knew and I looked up to him. I will continue to look up to him now and forever for his humor, positive attitude, and strength. Simply AMAZING!

P.S. thanks for all the fantastic sketches scattered throughout my year books from Blevins and Rocky Mtn. HS. It made me smile this morning when I sifted through the pages...

I had the pleasure of singing with Hollis in the Rocky Mountain Singers in my Junior and Senior year. We actually traveled to Prague and Vienna together, which was such a fiasco, but I learned a lot about life from that experience with Hollis. In the end enjoying an experience to Europe shouldn't follow any rules, especially at our age. So in some ways he got it. We're too young to be losing Hollis, and I am sorry that I lost touch with him. We are too young to be having this happen.

I had the special blessing of being in Houston while Hollis was being treated at MD Anderson. We both said it was a blessing that God moved me out here about 8 months before Hollis got here. I was able to help him with healthy eating,a new thing for him! He said his taste buds changed after chemo and he wanted to try some healthy food. He really took a liking to it- lentils, apples, organic PB, smoothies, soups, even kale! I had some really special times with Hollis in Houston-I will always cherish that blessing. He brought laughter to any situation, even when he was in a lot of pain. I know I will laugh with him again in heaven someday.

I met Hollis at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, which is where I work. I had an instant liking of Hollis. He was usually good for a laugh. He is one of those patients that people love to help. Always joking and pleasant. He came to RMCC before he went to MD Anderson so he & Crystal could take pics of/with his friends and give big hugs too. He was a special guy. Hollis fought a good fight, with all he had in him, and with so many people behind him. Love you Hol. TEAMHOLLIS. <3 You will live on in my heart. Thanks for touching my life.

Dear Jennifer and the Hudetz family-
Wishing you peace. Hollis has been an inspiration to all of us. I know you are proud of his courageous battle. You should be proud of the entire family. I hope that if it were my family, we would be able to envelop our loved one in the unwavering love and support, fierce tenacity, and spirited humor that you all shared with Hollis each day of his fight. You Hudetzes are a class act, and an inspiration in your own right.

I met Hollis through a mutual friend he was working with in Colorado Springs about 3 years ago. Many of my happiest memories over that time have been with Hollis. He was one of the few people who could make me laugh just as much as I could make him laugh. I moved in with Hollis about 6 months before he was first diagnosed and when he told me I couldn't believe it. I knew immediately that he was going to fight it with everything he had and he had so many people behind him I thought he would be just fine. Just goes to show even some of the most loved people in the world can't be saved.

I was lucky enough to go to school with Hollis from 7th grade to our senior year. Our first school dance at Blevins Junior High Hollis was the first guy I ever danced with other then my Grandpa. Hollis was my first crush in junior high. We shared the same love for Kermit the frog. Hollis always kept everyone smiling and was good to everyone. He did not have a mean bone in his body. He will never be forgotten for so many reasons especially for never giving up and he always kept moving forward no matter what.

Hollis, I close my eyes and I can see you singing in Heaven's choir. I close my eyes and I see your perpetual smile. I close my eyes and I see you off-roading in your jeep in God's majestic mountains. I close my eyes and I see you free from pain. I close my eyes and I know you are at home.

I never knew about this site. I have great memories of Hollis, but my favorite is going with him to his 10-year high school reunion. He didn't tell John and Elizabeth we would be staying at their house and we strolled in around 2:45 in the morning. While they weren't happy at that moment, as we all know, Hollis has the coolest parents in the world and we spent the entire next day singing and playing piano while John and Elizabeth tried to fix a leak in the bathroom. I took video of Hollis singing and playing at my house last December. Anyone able to help me get it downloaded?
