Hi Peter,
Thank you for your lovely words about my Dad. It is great to hear and be reminded by your memories of a delightful bushwacking youth. 'One of Nature's true gentleman'. I love that. He definitely remained that way and was able to instill a love and appreciation for nature in both of his daughters. We were able to install a lovely memorial bench for him just above the fisherman's rocks at Look Out in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa (a place where he loved to fish). As you probably noticed, I started this memorial site when his death was still very fresh and in the midst of my grief, I did not follow through and finish it. I am amazed that years later it has brought your connection and kind words. Hopefully this response will make it to you.
Thank you!

Hello Ariel
Very sorry to hear of Gil's passing. We were friends in 1960s Lusaka and it was he who introduced me to "The Hobbit", squash, "The Sword in the Stone", his love of falconry, how to hold a golf club, and he also regularly ran rings around me on the hockey field. However, we also had great fun out in the bush together, enjoying the peace, flora and fauna; fishing for tiger-fish in the Kafue, and with friends going to parties, dances and other social gatherings. He was a great lad, and one of nature's true gentlemen.
With best wishes
