Memorial
George Frank, 74, of Reno, Nevada passed away Sunday, April 15 in Beaverton, Oregon, following an illness.
He was born to the late Alexander and Lorine Frank in Mitchell, Nebraska on September 15, 1937. He was raised in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Coos Bay and Portland, Oregon, attended Marshfield, Beaverton, and Lincoln High Schools. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1955, and from Oregon State University with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering in 1961. He married the late Rita Stone in December 1956 and they lived in Oregon, California, and Montreal, Canada.
George owned and operated Pacific Engineering Corporation from 1971 until his retirement in 2002. In prior years he worked as an electrical engineer for Standard Oil and Sandwell International. He was a registered professional engineer in Oregon and California.
He will be remembered, and sorely missed, for his generosity, kindness, business acumen, carpentry and home repair skills, and sense of humor. He shared all of his resources without reservation: time, money, ingenuity, energy and good advice.
He enjoyed ocean fishing with family, friends, business associates and clients in the Pacific Northwest and Los Cabos, Mexico. As captain of the 36’ motor yacht “Reno I”, he hosted family and friends for many Columbia River cruises. As the son of a farmer, he enjoyed gardening and treasured his family, both immediate and extended, and enjoyed hosting dinners and family reunions. He traveled frequently to Beaverton and Burbank, California to visit family.
He is survived by daughters Teresa Irvin of Olympia, Washington, Tamara Parashos of Beaverton, Oregon, and Julia Frank Pond of Portland, Oregon; sisters Jeannie Davis of Burbank, California and Kathy Havelka of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren Lauren Pond, Eric Parashos, Alison Pond, Paige Irvin, Taylor Irvin, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, on May 4 at the World Forestry Center, Miller Hall, 4033 Southwest Canyon Road, in Portland.
