Guest Book
Freida E. Schomer was married to ALFRED WALTER KENNEY- from 1941 June 1 to 1980 (dec 7, 1980)My dad b. 0ct 23, 1913 died Dec 7, 1980) He was a graduate of Westminster Choir college (in Princeton N.j.) did workshops with dr. j.f.williamson IN SAN ANSELMO CA. taught music in Kerman High sch. and then moved to sac. and taught music at John Barrett jr. high.. we lived at 5925 Ranger way in Carmichael ca. and my dad was instrumental at getting me into being a musician and music teacher (in sac. san juan unified sch. district) ALKFRED was superb as a musician - singer, musician and teacher, he put his heart and money into his profession , getting me to experience the best teachers available in music... I owe so much to him and his dedication to family and church, his faithfulness to the gospel and family were inspirational.. (my son david-lives in texas is a minister also) Alfred sang solos in church , directed the church choir, sang MESSIAH solos and I have recordings of his singing -powerfully... he played clarinet in his youth until a car accident cause him the loss of two fingers on his right hand making him feel selfconscious about appearance.. we was wonderfully dressed and so good looking, taught me about buying good looking clothes even in my youth... he taught me work ethic and excellence in performance, ii took piano lessons FROM ELLA KOHLER and cello lessons from MALCOLM DAVIDSON (fresno) and and learned my music and singing skills in workshops from JOHN FINLEY WILLIAMSON (president and director of Westminster Choir College touring choir) so my dad (Alfred) got ME TO EXPERIENCE the best in people, leadership and performance one could have... my dad encouraged me to teach public school telling me that the ''kids'' needed GOOD TEACHERS , good men teachers and good skilled trained music teachers,, I have never regretted not teaching college and taking my dad's advice to teach public school … so rewarding and so challenging to me personally... thank you to both my parents ALFRED AND FREIDA KENNEY the best parents a family could have.. i'm so so grateful to themn and to GOD MY FATHER...

MY MOM - freida kenney- read me stories at night,(as I did for my kids)came to my performances(what I did for my kids)shared joyful laughter with me, (as I did for my kids)she was 'best mom ever' at all times. I played my latest church songs for her in her last days and she gave me 'thumbs up'. Her contribution of music to my life was my contribution to her in her last moments to remember me.Love you so much mom, i want to always make you proud of me

I remember her coming to the rehearsals of the American River College Orchestra in her wheel chair to hear her son, Chuck, play cello in the orchestra. She loved the music and passed that trait on to her son. Rest in peace!
