Although we here at Ballet Arts Studio did not know Eleanor personally, we felt we got a glimpse of who she was through her wonderful daughter Jane, whose two daughters-Eleanor's grandchildren-study dance here. Our thoughts are with Jane and her family, and we know that the strong family bonds which exist in the O'Malley family will see them through this difficult time.

I want to express my deepest sympathy at the passing of "Auntie Ellen." She was always so warm and kind to me. Steve, Doug, and Jane - you are in my thoughts at this time.

I want to send my heartfelt sympathy to the whole family at such a sad time. Mrs. Kirby was so dear to me when Jane and I were roommates and it was such fun to spend time in Fairfax. Her sly wit was something I absolutely loved and will miss very much, along with her wonderful laugh. She was a smart, accomplished woman and I will treasure all those moments over the years, especially the time spent with the Kirby's at Jane's and Patric's wedding. She had a remarkable life and I am touched that she welcomed me to be a part of it.

I have the most wonderful memories of growing up with the Kirbys. Many hours and days were spent going back and forth between my home and theirs in typical teenage fashion. Mr and Mrs Kirby were always gracious, welcoming and accepting. I am blessed with children of my own who are the beneficiaries of this generosity of spirit. Your loss is mine as well.

A quote of John Ruskin clearly speaks to Eleanor's life:"Nature is painting for us, day after day, pictures of infinite beauty..."

I will remember her "laughter", her zest for life, her strength, and her love for Steve, and her "kids".... Godspeed Eleanor!

"The tide recedes but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand. The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land. The music stops and yet it echos on in sweet refrains. For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains."
