Memorial

A "Celebration of Life" party for Edythe was held at the Chateaux de Bardmoor clubhouse in Largo, Florida, on May 9, 2010. Many family members and friends attended, and those who were unable to come were there in spirit (and in photographs!).

Appetizers, coffee/tea, cocktails and desserts were served.

Those of us who were too moved to speak about Edythe were very grateful to those who could share their wonderful memories of her life and the parts of it they were fortunate enough to have shared. We thank you all!

- Edythe A. Nohren -

Words cannot do her justice, but here are some that help to describe her....

Giving, caring, warm, charming, courageous, intelligent, tenacious, humble, compassionate, hard working, attractive, understanding, informed, independent, humorous and last but not least, Mom.
Born Oct. 5th, 1912, she lived through the great depression and learned all the lessons therein. She had 3 children, Bill Nohren (deceased), Carol Chamberlain, and Bob and his wife Linda Nohren. Shortly thereafter she lost the love of her life, her husband Lester, at the young age of 40. Edythe never remarried; "Never met anyone as nice as Les...". She raised all 3 of her children by herself, at a time when women didn't have all the advantages in business they have today.
Edythe was a bank officer at City Bank in St. Petersburg, Fl.(now known as SunTrust Bank) for 13 Years, retired. She sold insurance, real estate, invested in small businesses and was an astute investor in the market. Some of her post-retirement "jobs" included "Taxpayers' Consultant for the IRS," "Southeastern Representative for the Scandanavian/American Student Exchange Program," and "Guardian Ad Litem" for the state of Florida, representing children in court who had no other voice.
She never turned away a family member or friend in time of need. We will miss her very much....

Those who miss her include:
Her grandchildren; Tracy and husband Jeff Kaufman, William Nohren and wife Renee, Jerri Lynn Nohren, Steven Nohren, Alisa McCarthy, Christopher Acosta and Adam Acosta.
Her great grandchildren: Daniel and Jaime Kaufman.
Her nieces: Marilyn Murry and her huband John; Gayle Whittaker and her husband Ed.

Hello. I am the daughter of William Carl Anderson, cousin of Edythe. Dad died in 2003; my mother Mildred (Millie) Anderson said to me that she didn't know if Edythe was still alive. I searched on the Internet and found Edythe's memorial information. If you would like to be in touch with my mother, who is 92 and still living in Park Ridge, her e-mail is millieanderson@att.net.

Edythe was such a very lovely person. I always enjoyed having her to join us girlfriends at our dinner parties. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to you my friend Carol and your family.

Carol,

We didn't know your mom well, but want you to know our prayers are with you and family. So sorry for any misunderstandings here at Kalmia. I, for one did not wish to see either of you leave.

May God comfort you and yours.

I worked many years at City Bank (now Sun Trust) with Edythe.I remember Edythe inviting my husband and I and another couple to her home for a get together before attending a Bank party. Actually we had more fun at her home than we did at the big party. She had a good sense of humor and was fun to be around.

"I met Edythe only once, a few years ago. Knowing of Carol's Mom and her age I was expecting a "little old lady". I was truly surprised at the woman that walked through my door. Here was an amazing woman, not a hair out of place with full make-up a"
