This site is dedicated to EDNA HONEA.

Not a soul on this earth that ever had the pleasure to meet MISS EDNA,didn't love her immediately.

She had the kindest , caring nature.
She always greeted you with a smile, no matter how bad she felt. She struggled & battled ovarian cancer from 1989 till she died this year.
Can't even recount the many hospital stays she encountered or the chemo & radiation sessions over the many years.

She had the strong will to live.. which was made her such a trooper. She also received a "miracle from GOD" on a tumor on her liver. The surgeon open her up & then decided it was too severe & ordered to close her back up. He told us she only would survive a few months. While in the hospital, a nun came to visit & laid hands on her & prayed.
Remarkably the tumor was no longer existing!!!
By the way, no one recalls the nun that came or knew of her. We know Mother received a healing blessing from an angel of God.

Although her cancer still came back many more times , she was able to fight through it.

I am so proud of my mother. She is & was such a marvelous role model.

She bore four lovely children & loved them all the same.We always knew we were loved!
Her career was raising her kids.. & may I say she did a fantastic job.

The holidays will never be the same without you here. As long as I live, I will always associate a holiday with walking into your house through backdoor of the kitchen. The delicious smells would be the first thing to hit you. It would usually be followed by the sounds of grandchildren's feet running across your hardwood floors with a dog or two chasing them. But the best part would be your bright smile and laughter that greeted everyone that came through your door. Your love for each of your many guests was always apparent.
For your grandchildren, everyday was a holiday if it meant visiting Nana's house. I have spent many a car ride home with a little girl in tears over having to leave you before she was ready... Hands down, you were the best grandmother ever. I can only aspire to be like that good someday! You loved little girls, and your ability to get on their level was remarkable. Sitting on the floor for hours playing Barbie with them, making hundreds of batches of Playdough cookies. You even would put them in the oven and set the timer! Sitting through many "Little Mermaid" shows in the backyard by your pool. You never tired of them, and my girls adored you.
I will miss all the holidays and special occasions spent with you. But your loving spirit remains and is felt every single day.

Mom and I sat down just a month or so before her death to work on a memory book I wanted to do for my little girl Autumn. I wanted to put some special information about Autumn's "Nana" in it. I am so glad we had that special time sharing some memories of Mom's childhood. She shared with me about spending summers as a girl in the country, down in Linton, where she passed time playing with her cousin Faye picking blackberries and "swimming" in a washtub full of wellwater. She said it was so much fun.

She told me she had dreamed as a little girl of becoming a movie star when she grew up. She loved going to the movies and roller skating with her friends.

She talked about meeting our Dad on a double date (he was with her friend). She thought he was so handsome. He left his wallet in the car and Mom took it and insisted that she would keep it to give back to him (because she wanted another chance to see him again!) It worked!

I cherish the tidbits of her life that I gathered during that conversation and am saving it in a book for Autumn to add to her memories of her grandmother.

We now have Mom's piano in our home and the first thing Autumn does when she gets home from school is to sit down and practice. She is teaching herself at this point and I know Mom would be proud. They spent happy times together at the piano and I never fail to think of Mom when I see Autumn sitting there or hear the tinkling notes.

"Grandmother, although we all miss you dearly, I know that you and Papa are always with us. I feel your presence in my heart and I cherish the times I had with you both - they helped shape me into the man I am today. Life isn't, but love is eternal"
