Diane Carin Schneeweis continued flying on to God on August 27, 2009 after an aviation accident near her home town of Chico, CA.

Diane flew into the world via Long Beach, CA in 1952. She spent her formative years in Southern California where she met and married her husband of 34 years, Greg Schneeweis. They had two beautiful children Sarah and Jeff. In 1989 the family moved to Chico where they live today.

Diane began flying in 1985, following in the footsteps of her father George “Papo” Shepherd, a trained Navy pilot during the World War II era. Diane became a centerpiece in Chico aviation, holding positions as General Manager at the Chico Airport (FBO) as well as Director of the Chico Air Show. She was a renowned flight instructor, member of the 99’s Women’s Pilot Association, and an activist for children’s charities.

Diane’s devotion to her family was unmatched. She was instrumental in the day to day operations of her daughter’s business, HYPE Dance Studio and any free moment she had she spent with her 3 grandchildren.

Diane inspired people near and far, young and old. Whether training in the airplane or meeting on the ground, she was a friend to all she encountered. Her love for life and passion for aviation were only surpassed by her love for God and her family. Diane was a devoted Christian, able to see God in the eyes of every person she met. Flying, for Diane, provided a calming realization that life’s problems are not as big as they seem—as houses and cars look as small as ants from an airplane, so do our problems when we take a step back and look at our lives. She inspired the people around her to never sweat the small stuff.

Diane is survived by her husband, Greg; daughter, Sarah and husband Brian Blakley, beloved grandsons, Jackson and Lincoln; son, Jeff Schneeweis and wife Kristen, beloved granddaughter, Lydia; father, George Shepherd; brother, Ron Shepherd; sister, Debbie Green; sister, Kathy Blankenship. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Shepherd.

Diane's Lessons
Diane taught me so much over the years, and we shared so many good times and experiences. One, I remember vividly, was my daughter Lauren's 4th birthday. We had invited about 40 people over for a part...

This is a note to say that not a day goes by that you are not thought about by many! It has been just 1 year and 2 days since you joined God in Heaven. Those of us who knew you on this earth realize how very happy you are where you are at. We still miss you though. We also know that you are looking over us all. I know too how proud you are of your family and how they have handled this past year. It is a tribute to your life here Diane. Love ya Blondie!

I cannot believe that it has almost been a year since you went to heaven. Your presence is still felt at the studio. You would be so proud of how Sarah has done this past year, and I am sure that you are watching over her and your son and their two new little ones that are receiving God's finishing touches before they join their family. What a wonderful family you have!

I agree with Greg Parkin- She needs another candle today. Happy Birthday, Sky Queen! Yesterday, I took your advise..I sat in the plane (no lipstick this time though) at Ranchareo and let my friend Tom fill up the plane. You were right...so much easier when you have the boys fill up the plane!! I learned soo much from you! You will always be with me and in my heart!

"Happy Birthday Diane. As this site celebrates your life, I find it fitting to add a candle today. Sad as we are this day, it does remind me of the full and inspiring life you led. You've no doubt formed an airshow up there by now. I would guess you "
