This site is dedicated to David Howell.

David K. Howell, age 53, of Decatur, Alabama passed from this life to his eternal life with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 22, 2008.

David was born September 6, 1955 in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Ben Howell and Janet Tigner Howell. He graduated with the class of 1973 at Bolivar Central High School and married his wife, Debbie, who survives,on June 9, 1978. David and Debbie were married for 30 years and were blessed with two sons. They made there home and raised their family in Hornsby, TN, David's childhood hometown.
In his earlier years, David worked as a deputy for the Hardeman County Sheriff's Department, and was also an EMT and the Director of the Hardeman County Ambulance Service. He founded the Hardeman County Rescue Squad, and was one of the main persons that started up the fundraiser for the first 'Jaws of Life' in the county. In his later years after he became ill, he volunteered as a criminal investigator for the county. Mr. Howell also had his name and photo included in the book 'Tennessee Lawman' with many other Law Enforcement officials from Tennessee.
In addition to his wife, Debbie, he is survived by two sons,Luke Howell and wife Kim, and Dusty Howell and wife Stephanie, two grandsons, Lucas Kenneth Howell and Talon David Howell. David is also survived by his precious sister whom he adored, and her husband Eddie, a nephew Chris King and a great niece Bailee King.

Talon and Stephanie never got to meet David, but I know he is loving them from Heaven just as he loved us.
Today, David holds his sweet granddaughter's hand, Drew Carolynn, in Heaven and I am sure they both are smiling and laughing.

Just a talented person. David kept us laughing in school. It was always so funny how he could just about make Orville McMahan blow up for clowning in class or drawing pictures. Such a special person and missed by everyone.

One should live his life that when his life ends, even the undertakers are sad. He did and we are.

Well my sweet brother a year has come and gone since you left me an orphan. After moma and daddy died I still always knew that I had one person that I could count on no matter what. There are so many times when i want to run to the phone to call and tell you something, when something good happens or when i just need a shoulder to cry on but instead I just pray to the Lord and He tells you what I need to. I miss you every day of my life and the best gift you ever gave me was to tell me that you had no doubt about your salvation. I will see you in heaven big brother. Your baby sister, Cathie

My favorite memory of David was watching him play baseball. He loved the game so much. David would put so much of himself into the game that I truely believe most of the fans were there just to watch him play. I loved to watch him play and so often he would get injured. Now I am talking about an injury that would have put a normal person in the emergency room. But not David he would finsh playing and would be laughing about it. He would say "I'll get it checked out when I win this game". Once the game was tied up and David was playing outfield and someone hit the ball towards him. It would have been a homerun for the other team but David ran for the ball and a fence got in his way, well that did not stop him, he jump up and went over the fence. He caught the ball and the fence caught him. He lost part of his uniform in the fence and I will finsh by saying that made alot of female fans very happy. David won the game and even had the other team cheering for him. I miss you and I love you David and when I shut my eyes I can hear you say "let's play ball".
