Memorial
Darlene Butcher, 58, of Sherwood, Oregon passed away Friday, November 4 at Oregon Health and Sciences University, following an illness.

She was born to the late Elmer and Dawn Hall in Ukiah, California on May 30, 1953. She was raised in Portland and Vernonia, attended St. Mary’s grammar school and Vernonia High School, graduating from Wilson High School in 1971. She married Jeff Butcher in August 1979 and they lived in Sherwood, Oregon.

Darlene owned and operated North’s Plumbing from 1981 until the fall of this year. She operated the offices of Rosewood Construction in the years prior.

She was a member and past board member of the Beaverton Rotary club and was Rotarian of the Year in 1996. She was a past board member of Care to Share where she organized and conducted the annual fundraising auction for many years. She was a board member of Youth Contact, and also sat on the board of the plumber’s apprenticeship organization. She was also a board member of X-Fidos Flyball Club.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and sense of humor as well as her desire to give back to her community to help others.

Darlene and Jeff were members of the Weimaraner Club of America, and with their five Weimaraners traveled to shows, obedience trials, hunting tests and flyball tournaments in the Pacific Northwest and California for many years. Darlene handled many dogs besides her own to show championship and retrieving titles, and made friends with dog owners at all of these events over the years. She was a beloved mentor to many Weimaraner owners, a loyal advocate to all dogs, and a mainstay of the Willamette Weimaraner club, acting as the chairperson and secretary for multiple club events.

She is survived by her devoted husband Jeff Butcher, of Sherwood; son Kelly Butcher and fiancée Kelly Niemela, of North Plains; brother Elmer Hall, of Gresham; brother Mike Hall, of Bay City; cousin Judy Budge and husband Tom, of Vernonia; cousin Karen Crandall of Portland; numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved Weimaraners Gibson, Holly and Frankie.

Services will be held at 1 pm, on November 19 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 960 Missouri St., in Vernonia.

For memorial contributions, the family has designated the Weimaraner Foundation Fund Rescue (WFF Rescue Committee, 324 Sundew Drive, Belleville, IL 62221).

She was so very helpful as a Board Member of our
Rotary Club during my presidency. Especially while at the entry desk, during meetings, greeting members with her beautiful smile and her "Welcome to Beaverton Rotary". She was an outstanding Rotarian exemplifying "Service Above Self".

Will always remember when Darlene and my wife without me put a toilet in doing our remodeling. Ever since then I called her every time that I had a problem with plumming. She used to say do not do that and leave $9 for the bottle......as time went on she said you still owe for the last time...or you are paid in advanced . She was always trustworthy, knowledgeable, laughed when appropriate..just a neat woman. It was always a pleasure to call her even if it was just to say hello. jack
