Obituary of Cheryl Denise Walcott-Watts.

Mrs. Cheryl Denise Watts was born Cheryl Denise Walcott on Aug 25, 1952 in Georgetown, Guyana. She was the eldest of eight children born to Cedric and Elsie Walcott. She was predeceased in death by her parents and one sister, Gretta “May May.” Cheryl entered into rest on Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

She grew up in Plaisance, where she also received her primary education. At the age of 14, Cheryl met the love of her life, Clyde Watts. They married 4 years later on April 17, 1971. This union produced four children, Michelle, Nolan (deceased), Germaine, and Duane. In 1979, Cheryl and Clyde migrated to the United States of America where she and her husband worked hard to build a stable and loving home for their family. After her hard work and determination, in the winter of 1981, Cheryl returned to Guyana and brought her children to join her in the United States. In addition to working, she received her Associate Degree in Customer Relations from Temple College.

Cheryl worked many small jobs before starting to work at McDonald’s were she was quickly promoted to management. After many years with McDonald's, Cheryl then obtained a job of her dreams at AT&T in Customer Relations where she worked for over 16 years. In 2000, she stopped working due to her health and then she devoted most of her time to homemaking. She enjoyed spending time with her children and meeting new people. Where ever Cheryl went and whatever she did, she did it with much Spark, Style and Joy. Cheryl was always the person who you would enjoy being around. She knew how to take charge and light up any room when she entered. Friends and family were frequently invited to partake of her hospitality. She was the life of the party.

Cheryl was always willing to give aid to all who needed it. She could not say “No”. Even in the midst of illness and pain, Cheryl cheered others along. She has fought a good fight and kept the faith. After a lengthy illness and a short stay in the hospital, on March 6, 2012, she passed from us, at peace in her home. Her final moments were spent surrounded by her loving children and Grandchildren.

Cheryl is now reunited with her best friend and husband of 36 years, Clyde Watts, who preceded her in death in May of 2007. She leaves to mourn her loss her devoted children, Michelle, Germaine and Duane; daughter-in-law, Belinda; four adoring grandchildren, Keyon, Denise, Sydney, and Blair; her siblings Donald, Beverly, Waveney, Godfrey, Orin and Nicola. She also leaves countless other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. May she rest in peace.
