Catherine Sahakian of Racine, WI passed away on July 25, 2015 in River Falls, WI at the age of 92. She was born to Toros and Vartuhy Madaghian on December 1, 1922. Catherine attended Lincoln Elementary School, McKinley Junior High School, and Horlick High School (class of 1941). In 1949, she married Edward Sahakian, a skilled carpenter, locksmith, and computer wiz. Catherine’s vocations included positions as the first office secretary at A&E Mfg. Company, a legal stenographer at Walker Mfg. Company, and an office manager and bookkeeper at Wisconsin Plating Works, where she worked for twenty-five years before retiring. Catherine was a member of St. Mesrob Armenian Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher. Staying socially connected, she was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Women's Guild and helped establish the St. Mesrob Retirees. Her cultural engagement led to her longstanding position as an officer of the United Tomarza Association, a social group for survivors from Tomarza, Armenia. She enjoyed interior decorating, ballroom dancing, and playing Scrabble. Her enthralling personality, witty humor, and thoughtful nature endeared her to many. Catherine is survived by her siblings, Jack Madahgian, Rose Kaprelian, Margaret Madaghian, and Elizabeth Derderian; her children, Curtis Sahakian, Cynthia Bamber, and Nancy Sahakian; and her grandchildren, Linnea Bamber, Lori Sahakian, Amy Bamber, Holly Bamber, Eddie Sahakian, and Michelle Bamber. She is also survived by many relatives and friends. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Sahakian; identical twin sister, Mary Kamakian; and brother, Michael Madajian. The funeral service, officiated by Fr. Yeprem Kelegian, will be 10-11am on Friday, July 31, 2015, at St. Mesrob Armenian Church. The visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service, and the interment at Graceland Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be directed to St. Mesrob Armenian Church.

My deepest sympathy for the family and friends of Catherine. May you find comfort in knowing our Heavenly Father holds out the hope of the resurrection for our dead loved ones. His son, Jesus, said "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". John 5:28,29. Our dead loved ones are in God's memory and one day he will resurrect them to a paradise earth. Psalms 37:9,10,11,29. Job 15:14,15 says he has a yearning to do so. Isn't that comforting to know? Revelation 21:3,4 says that one day on this earth, death will be no more, neither will pain or mourning be any more.

Dear Sahakian Family,

Please accept my deepest condolences. I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope you might find comfort in knowing that our loved ones that have died are safe in Gods memory and we will soon have the opportunity to welcome these ones back to eternal life on a paradise earth. In God's word, the Bible, we find this promise: "The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it.". (Psalm 37:29)

With Sincerity,
Abby E
