Carmenda S. Woodards was great mother of five children, a daugther, a sister, a cousin, and friend to many. She opened her home to those in need and enjoyed making people laugh.

My mother kept a smile on myface when i was up or down. She was kind and nice to everyone on our block and to all the people she knew. She was a prety and beautiful person.

Angel Blue,

I thought of my mother as a role model and so many others in my family. She was the reason why I kept my head up. When I was ready to give up, she was the one who made me laugh when I was feeling a little blue. Any problems I had, she had the right answer to solve it. I will always keep her in my memory, for s long s I live.

Carmenda was killed by an act of violence on May 1, 2010 on Chicago Southside.

Carmenda was a beautiful person inside and out and her family will forever miss her.
