Memorial
Carl Meredith Buchanan passed away on June 7, 2009, in Denver.
He was born on July 18, 1930, in Seattle to Carl and Ercy Buchanan. As a child, he moved to Southeast Alaska where he graduated from Sitka High School in 1948.
Carl raised a family of four while living and working in the Seattle area for a number of years before returning to Alaska. In 1970, he, his wife Beverly and their young son moved to Fairbanks, where he attended the University of Alaska and received his bachelor of science degree in sociology. Upon graduating, he took a job with the Bureau of Land Management, which took him to Denver, Phoenix and eventually back to Lakewood, Colo., where he retired in 1994.
Shortly after his retirement, he began working part-time at Wal-Mart as a people greeter. He enjoyed the company of his co-workers and frequent shoppers. He made 12 years worth of friends there.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Buchanan and Ercy Wylie; his brother, Don Buchanan; stepfather, Wes Wylie; and his brother-in-law, Eugene "Sketch" Pasinski.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Buchanan; his children, Mike and Judy Buchanan, Kathy and Gary Baxter, Bruce Buchanan and Lori Kyte, Loree and John Droullard, Steve and Jen Buchanan, Amy Buchanan and Stephanie McGinnis and Jared Buchanan; sister, Nadene Pasinski; brother, Garner and Melitta Buchanan; and sister-in-law, Virginia Buchanan. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dogs, Maggie and Max.
Carl was a loving and devoted husband and father. He enjoyed gardening, classic cars, Broadway musicals, reading and camping. He had room in his heart for all of us and will be remembered for his charming sense of humor and wisdom for living in the present.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m., June 19, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ferndale, Wash. Interment of cremains will follow at Enterprise Cemetery.

Straight from Dad's mouth...
I know he had a bunch more of these silly little sayings. I can't think of them all right now.
"If I'm the kid, you're the goat and all the slop goes down your throat." I guess Dad thought these ...
