Born to Frank Washburn and Serena Hussey in Presque Isle, Maine. The youngest of 4 children, his siblings: Gorham, Charles, and Lavinia.

Father, Frank, was a potato farmer, and was instrumental in starting one of the very first farm cooperatives - The Maine Potato Growers Assn.

Buzz had the good fortune of spending his summers pulling weeds in potato fields. About that, he would frequently say, "It put hair on my chest".
Graduated from Williston Academy - Easthampton, MA
Graduated from Dartmouth College - Hanover, NH with a degree in Economics.
Served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960.
Married the love of his life, Diane Luise Peterson, in Chicago, IL
Received MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School
Twin daughters Kimberly Marie and Kathryn Grace, born in Evanston, IL
First of many moves - from Edgebrook, IL to Wilmette, IL. Both in the Chicago area. Working as a broker at Merrill Lynch at the time.
Moved to Dallas, TX for the first time (it wouldn't be the last). Still with Merrill Lynch. 6 year-old daughters were very surprised to discover that the house wasn't in the middle of a ranch with tumbleweeds and cowboys.

It was while here that the family got the Old English Sheepdog they named Samantha. Buzz loved this dog and spent hours every weekend bathing and grooming her.
Moved to Houston, TX for the first time (it wouldn't be the last!) This house had a pool in the backyard - moving up! Still working for Merrill Lynch - now in management.
Back to Dallas again! This time, knowing it was temporary...turned out to be only a few months. Still with Merrill Lynch.
Moved to St. Louis, MO - a fantastic old house with a tire swing in the big back yard, the elementary school just behind the big back yard, and a springer spaniel named Troubles for Sammy and the girls to romp around with. Still with Merrill Lynch.
Moved to Houston, TX to take a position as Regional Manager for Rotan Mosle.

Moved to Cleveland, OH to take position as Senior Vice-President at Smith Barney. Purchased and did battle with a beautiful historic home in Shaker Heights.
Still in Cleveland with Smith Barney - moved out of historic home into more rural setting in Chesterland, OH. Buzz named the drainage ditch that they dressed up with a bridge and lovely plantings "The River Diane".
Back to Dallas ONE MORE work for Dain Rauscher. Started out just for fun as a broker again, and completed his career as their Director of Research.
Grandson Michael born to daughter Kim, at home in Burns, TN.
RETIRED! Time for travel, cars, family and "Living it up!" Can finally spend all of every summer at the Chautuaqua Institution attending classes, lectures, musical events, and sitting on the deck watching the lake change...
Moved to Nashville, TN where daughters live with their husbands, and grandson Michael is just starting school.
