I'm returning to Hawaii for retirement and was trying to find BC. To my great disappointment I found that BC has has passed through this thoughtful memorial. Anne, Gold Bless and my prayers are with you. We loved BC and he will always have a special place in my heart along with all the Maui Marriott associates. He was a mentor , a friend, a supporter and was always there for anyone who needed advice or coaching. He was a class act and a great leader and role model for me. I always try to live up to his example of pure kindness. Today my heart is very heavy. Georja, , thank-you for your kindness in doing this as otherwise I would have never known.

I was trying to locate my friend, Anne, and came upon Bruce's site. What a huge loss.
Anne, I am so, so sorry for your loss.
Bruce was a wonderful host during my two trips to Maui in the early 80s.I do not believe there was anything he could not do. Just like his wife.
I also knew Anne and Bruce when they lived in Napa. He certainly had the knack for the hospitality business.
I know he is and will continue to be terribly missed.
All my best, Kathy

I don't know Mr. Curtis but I can tell by the kind words he was well loved. Hawaii must have been like a paradise to him. It will be thrilling when John 5:28,29 is fulfilled. I hope I get the opportunity to meet up and tell him of all the kind words written about him. I hope that his friends and family find comfort in knowing God cares about the pain that you feel. Soon we will see the fulfillment of Rev. 21:3,4. And the pain of death will be done away with.

Bruce was always smiling, friendly, and full of adventurous stories. He was more of an "Uncle" than a landlord. He was an active community member who really cared. We will miss him and our prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Having Bruce for my cousin was very rewarding. Always upbeat and ready with a story, he could transfix an entire room. We were born the same year and our mothers were twins. He had the ambition and personality to rise to the top of the hospitality industry and made many friends along the way, treating all with affection and respect. He was a colleague, a mentor, a friend and beloved family member. My daughter Jennifer and I loved our ”Cuz” and will miss him dearly.

I felt privileged when I got the call in 1981 to let me know I was named the Opening Executive Chef of the Legendary Maui Marriott Hotel this Dream started to become realty way back in Houston Texas were worked with Marriott.Right from the get go I knew I would be working with one of the best and finest GM Bruce Curtis not only in Marriott but also in our great Industry. To get along with BC was very easy the only thing you had to know was the interacting with people all the way BC would not spear a moment of energy to let everyone know how much he cared about them it was inspiring and accommodating to say the least a Man of his word and an endless Love for Maui and People which meant the world to him.He was the reason and instrumental I would survive the World of Political Corporate correctness!??if you know what I mean!! "Thank you Bruce for all you did for me " Rest in peace

God Bless,

Aloha Mr. Curtis. It was a joy and privilege to be on your team. I feel so blessed that in 1981 this girl from the Fiji Islands was given an opportunity to join the Maui Marriott and through your guidance and support I was able to go on to have a management career, that I still enjoy. You have left a legacy through all those who were able to serve under your leadership. I am a better person both professionally and personally for having known you. May the wind always be with you and may you sail with the angels. Much love, Margaret Laletin
