On April 13th, 2009 Bill L Goodman (78) was greeted at The Gates by his loving wife Donna, his second son, Jimmy, and his faithful dog, “Harley”.

Bill blessed this world on February 11, 1931 in Sepulpa, Oklahoma to Lewis Sr. and Sylvia Goodman. He was one of four children. He led an exciting and adventurous life, having traveled the U.S. “stepping a toe in every state”.

On Feb.13, 1949 he married the love of his life, Donna Marie Gibson. They had five children, Billy Lloyd Jr., James Duane "Jimmy", Gary Michael Sr., Ricky Dale and Tina Marie. They settled in southern California in 1957 to raise their family. They were happily married for 23 years before Donna passed.

Bill had several successful business ventures; He was a precision machinist, a professional plumber, a carpenter/contractor and an auto upholsterer. When Bill retired, he went to worked for Kevin at the Cedar Ridge Y Gas Station "for a little something to do."

In 1983, Bill moved to Nevada City, with his Son & daughter-in-law, Gary & Claudia Goodman and their family, where he lived out the rest of his life. Billy Jr., Ricky and Tina later moved to Nevada City to be with family.

In his younger years, Bill loved riding motorcycles, spending time outdoors, going boating and fishing. He also loved working on classic cars. He was very family oriented, working several of his businesses with his sons and daughter, vacationing with them and just being there when they needed him.

Bill’s life is being celebrated by his sons, Billy Jr., Gary Sr., his wife, Claudia, Ricky (Nevada City), and daughter, Tina, her husband Greg Miller (Bridgeport). I feel very fortunate to have had you in my life ,your the only Grandfather I ever knew and I cherish every memory of our time spent together talking, sitting and just hanging out whenever I would come up there. I will always love you and someday will see you again.

Every Sunday grandpa would come over to make sure I was "up and at em". Sunday's were our days! He would drive me to town and take me to church, although he always had laundry to do and wouldn't go in with me no matter how many times I'd ask him to! I'd go into church and he'd go off to do his laundry. After church, when I'd come out, he was always there to pick me up. I don't recall one time he was ever late! Then he'd take me to get strawberry waffles at Humpty Dumpty, or donuts at the donut shop by KMart. He'd sit and drink his sugar coffee and I'd have my strawberry waffle or my donut and we'd talk about all kinds of stuff! I honestly believe if it wasn't for Grandpa taking me to church all those years I wouldn't be the woman of faith I am today! How else could a 12 year old girl get to a church on the other side of the county?! We didn't stop this routine until I moved to Chico to go to school, and boy did I miss our Sundays that first year! Now... I really really miss those Sundays, because they were the best Sundays of my LIFE!

It was coming up on my 30th Birthday & Dad said he wanted to take me to breakfast for my Birthday, where did I want to go? We lived in Sunland at the time. That's in southern California. Anyway, being given such an invitation I jokingly said, "Sportsman Lodge"! Because it's my all time favorite place to eat. To my suprise he said "Ok! Pack it up & let's go." That was Thurs night & Fri. after he got off work he called & said he was ready to go. Dad, Gary, Butch & Angel & I climbed into our 1976 Chevy Van & drove 500 miles, in the rain, to Sly Park campground in Pollock Pines California. We put up the sunshade awning & put up the tent under it. Saturday morning, my birthday, we went to Sportsmans & had my special birthday breakfast, got back in the van & drove 500 miles back to Sunland! It was one of the BEST times of my life! Thank You Dad!
Love forever,
Claudia

I didn't get to spend as much time with Grandpa as some, so when my sister Beej told me he used to hide Victoria Secret magazines under his pillow it made me giggle and I will love him forever for reminding me it's okay to be human. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH GRANDPA!!!

I'm so blessed to have spent those last few days and hours with you! I will never forget how happy you were when you saw me! You have forever touched and changed my life. From my very start to my very ending! You've been monumental in my faith and my walk and I can't wait until the day I will see you standing at the gates of Heaven with your arms open wide to welcome me home! Go and prepare a place for me! For our Fathers house has many rooms! My heart will forever be imprinted with the thumbprint you left there!
