Annelies Dahmen passed away at home with her family on September 23, 2009. Annelies Maehrlein was born December 16, 1925, in Munich, Germany, where she also met her husband, Anthony Dahmen. They married in Pierz, Minnesota on February 4, 1952. Annelies’ husband, Anthony, preceded her in death on March 30, 1979.

Annelies was a very strong woman. She raised and nurtured six children who will carry on her passions and memories. When she was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer on June 18, 2009, she met it head on with her children and grandchildren by her side. She was a fighter all the way down to the end of her life. She will live on in all our hearts.

Throughout her life she touched many lives; many received crocheted afghans, pillows, or house-shoes, christmas trees, ornaments, dishtowels, and other things made by Annelies. Some even got a chance to taste her apple strudl, homemade jam, and her tasty crunch-bars (the secret recipe). Everything she made was made with lots of love. She thoroughly will be missed but also everything she did will be carried forward by those she met.

Although I have never met your mother I can see the kind of person she was from the postings here on her Memorial site. I wanted to write here to let you know I share your loss. I lost my son last year and Pete, a friend of my son's, wrote to me. It made me feel good to know so many people loved him. We are lucky people to have had such loving wonderful people in our lives. And even luckier to know how much we meant to them. With that strong a bond, your mother will always be with you. I know the grief and loss you feel, I hope knowing this helps at least a little to get through this time.

What a beautiful tribute to your Mother. Thank you for all of the photos of her and the rest of the family. I enjoyed them immensely and will cherish them always. Her loving spirit and kindness was extended to anyone who ever met her. May she be happy forever now that she resides with God in Heaven. Knowing that she is there must be a great comfort to those she left behind. God bless each one of you too. Love always, Aunt Rita

"Mom how do I put into words what I am feeling? Lost? Sad? Lonely? None of these seem to express that emptyness, that hole inside me. I miss you every minute of every day. I know you are now my guardian angel watching over me. I love you and I miss U"
