Andy and I laid brick together in Colorado. We were partners for awhile. He kept getting better and better at the brick. We had our ups and downs over the years but you could count on him no matter what. He was quiet and didn't talk much, but that was Andy. He showed me how to work these computers, as he was much younger and more experienced. I am forever gratefull for the time we had working together. We both got into Harleys at the same time and I know he enjoyed riding em. Andy, you will be missed. Rest in peace.

Andrew is my wife's cousin... He was also my friend. He loved America, and we loved him. His family from Windsor Ontario Canada (Garry, Enid, Paula, Gayle, Karen and myself) are in disbelief still.. RIP Andy

Many fun and funny stories to be told, but one obscure thing I remember about Barney is “studges”. This usually occurred at the bus shelter at the top of Hunger Hill. This is a term that was called out when someone was down to their last few puffs of a smoke. If you called “studges”, you were entitled to that last bit of their cig. In this maneuver, timing is everything. Call it too soon, you’re out of the running. Too late? Well, maybe next time. Anyway, as I recall (and sometimes that’s a reach) Barney was the King of this maneuver. I’m not sure if that kid ever bought a pack. I’m pretty sure you quit yonks ago, but patrons of Heaven, you’ve been told.

Ay up kid and King of “Studges“. Rest in Peace. Love, Devi Brennan

Me and Barny grew up together; fixed cars and bikes, got pissed. He was always the safest rider I ever rode with. As Ian said hanging around the bus shelter brings back great memories, party's at his house and at anybody elses we could crash at. He always made me laugh, I'll never forget you mate RIP

There is so much I want to say to you and time has run out. I remember when we first met. All the wonderful fun times we had. Endless memories. Jumping of your dock, skinny dipping in the cold night in Redwood City.... Pig roasting parties on 4th of July. Endless nights at the Rose'n Crown. I will be thinking about you every time I am flying down the hill on my board, knowing that you are right there somewhere watching me.
You were always there when I had a bad day/night, no matter what. Always a good spirit, good advice, the perfect listener (even to a wining girl), the simple go-go guy!
When you moved it was a loss, yet it put a smile on my face every time we talked on the phone.
I missed you dearly when you moved, now I will miss you even more!I hope that you are in a better place! Don't forget us all. We won't forget you! Ever - Rest in Peace!
Love Jules

Eh up!...my dear friend Barney! I tried to find you on FB when I joined it back at x-mas time last year. No luck. Looked for Andrew though. Never heard anyone call you Andy ever. Got in touch with my Bay-Area friends and no one seemed to have you as a FB friend so I assumed that you was not into Facebook. Now its too late! You were one of my best friends for a long time. We met way back when I arrived in Palo Alto, at an english pub back in 91. I came from Sweden to PA to start a restaurant and we were flat broke as was Per, one of my partners in the restaurant venture and you. But in the fall 91 to spring 92 it was you, me and Per, who spent most of the time together...no money and you always came banging on our flat-door everyday. We scraped up the coins that we could come up with together got some food and if we got a coin over we bought beer and had a good time. You put our restaurant patio together with your skills. Later the 3 of us got a house together. But things got a bit sour (dont remember much of that) so you got a flat in Menlo Park. We were still good friends all the time and I remember our trips together to Sacramento and L,A. and the WC final in LA -94 and all the fishing and all the hanging out. And no one ever could be so goofy in a great and funny way as you. One thing that Ian Bimpson (thank you my friend for a lovely memorial over Barney) did point out was that you was extemely independant! You got your brick-laying thing going, got a motorbike when all of us bought cars, bought a boat and went out on the bay with absolutely no skills at all :) We hit all sandbars possible. Then shit hit the fan and INS came after me and Per because of one guy and you got unfortunally involved in this soup..You went to Colorado after that I was forced to leave the country and we lost contact. I didnt kept in touch with anyone...it was to painful. I could write a book about our first years in the U.S. I wiill come up with some Barney-ism as well later on. All the sympathy to your parents and sister in Bolton and to all the great friends you s found in Colorado. Love you and miss you Barney! / Micke

Have fond memories of Andrew when he first came to Canada and stayed with mom and dad until he decided to "move" to America. The country he loved and obviously where he was meant to live. Wish we were close as he was obviously loved by many. He will be greatly missed by all that he touched. RIP

Anytime a precious soul is lost while enjoying the freedoms and love of the open air and road my heart sinks. I know people who love to ride and who live to ride are free spirits most of us wouldn't understand. I don't know Andy but I know the heart of a rider. Rest in peace neighbor.

How heartbreaking to have you leave us so soon, I am so thankful to have so many special memories and of course funny ones! We loved to cook together which always brought laughter - he ALWAYS wanted to put in too many jalepenos! Our nicknames for each other were LB (Little Brit) and LB (Little Bits). This came about when we were grilling for the first time - we were so into talking and having our wine we burnt up the asparagus that I had brought over and according to him cut off too much of and so we ended up having some pretty crispy little bits. He was always good for laughter, love, and friendship. I will miss you so much LB - rest in peace sweetie! Love ya! Keep smiling!

I met Andy in Palo Alto, back in the day, late 80's early 90's. My fondest memory is at my wedding, we were just about to say our vows and I glanced over to see my family, what I saw was Barney, with that huge smile on his face and then he poked his tongue out at me, still smiling, I looked no further turned to my husband and we said our vows. I've told that story many times but never thought I'd be writing it down as a memory of Andy. We will miss you, and hearing about your adventures. Your heart was the only thing bigger than your smile.

Oh my dear friend Andy. What a wonderful Blessing you were in my life!! I cherished every single second I knew you. Your smile lit up a room...and it lit up my heart every time I saw it. I know you're riding with the Angels now. I bet you have a bitchin' bike, too. I can just see you in your shades that matched mine...our 'Risky Business' shades...the ones I catch so much hell about :) We'll see each other again one day. Like we said so many times when meeting up at the Hideout..."save me a spot." I love you and miss you so much.

The World has lost a true gentleman. Anyone who knew Andy/Barney was affected by him in the most positive of ways. We crossed paths in Palo Alto in the early 90's at the Rose and Crown. You knew it was going to be a good night if Barney was out. You will be missed sorely. Sleep tight.
