So many fun memories, Cortney... but one thing that I do remember especially, is your mom practically squealing about how much, as a young woman, she daydreamed about dancing with Cesar Romero, her matinee dancing idol, in beautiful gowns on shiny ballroom floors. So, it was NO surprise that she rushed to act out that unfinished dream and become so accomplished.

Hard to believe it's been a year... she brought our friendship back to life, and I am grateful to her for that.

I'll always remember Aunt Algean as The Glamor Puss! As a child I drank up every story about her world of Hollywood and Fashion Modeling. She indulged the stars in my eyes and now she lives amongst them.

Algean was introduced to me many years ago by Cortney. I was deligted by her warm welcome into her home for the first time. I looked forward to her hospitality and friendlyness each time I would visit. Many times I would come by the house and she was on her way out to go dancing dressed to the 9's. So ellegant! I enjoyed talking to her. I cellebrate her life. I will miss her.

Algean Litwin, in my mind was and still is a spiritual lady teacher who gave of herself to others with love, light, kindness and truth. Aljean and Mother Therasa are similar in nature wanting to help a friend who asks for help. Algean is one of a kind in the eyes of her friends. Namaste to my friend Algean.

Cortney, I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I have so many great memories of you and your mom, and your dad of course. My favorite memory goes back a long way. When we were 14 or 15, your mom took you, your friend Beth and me to see Jesus Christ Superstar at the Universal Amphitheater. I remember trying to go to sleep and banging on the wall, then ending up on the floor of your room. Then, your mom came in and started stepping around and said, "We seem to have lost someone." She then stepped on me and we all laughed. She was very cool to allow me to stay in your room with you and Beth that night. The events of the evening will always remain a happy memory.

My love to you and Al. I hope to see you both again soon.

Algean was such a sweet lady. I would see her often in the puzzle room. Always perfectly groomed. I lived a few doors away from her and hated to see her leave. I know she loved her kitty cat too. I believe she had wonderful KARMA here on earth.

Cortney, you have lost a wonderful mother and I have lost a dear and wonderful friend. I will truly miss her and will look forward to seeing
her again among the stars. She was a beautiful

Algean was truly a wonderful person. I have so many happy memories of her and Morty at Sunday morning breakfasts with Eric and me and our
Thursday evening get togethers when Eric and I would bring the sand-
wiches and Algean made the desserts. She made the most terrirfic
baked peaches!

Even after moving to Tucson I enjoyed staying with Algean on the week-ends I was in L.A. She introduced me to the Swarovski snowflakes which I started to collect when I saw the beautiful sunlight reflections they made when hanging in your living room window.

I always think of her when I look at the cat figures she gave me with the huge eyes that are looking right at you. And the outstanding denim jacket which she decorated so beautifully is a wonderful remembrance.

We still kept in touch frequently after she moved to Spokane. I will truly miss her.

Algean delighted in putting Jigsaw puzzles together in our crafts room here at FountainGlen. Her and I started putting most Jig Saw puzzles together. She would pick out the edges of the puzzle (border) and I would put the border together. She was always so happy when we finished. Then we would work on it or on another puzzle. I really miss her in the puzzle room. Love you and mis you.

Algean was indeed a Lady. Whether coming down to work on a Jig Saw puzzle, Donuts & coffe on Sunday morning or an ice cream social, she always dressed like she was gong to a ball. I Loved her as a friend.

A sweet soul who was a pleasure to be with. She is now enjoying her new reality and I'm sure our mutual friend John is with her. Its good to be reminded that death is an experience that happens IN life not TO life.

The first time I met your mom -over 2 decades ago-she had a few belts displayed. You nonchalantly told me she made them. I was in awe that such an unpretentious, graceful lady brought such "bling" into the world so others could "shine". On a different reflection, I remember how adoring she was with Shawnodese! What a kind, gentle, fun loving spirit packaged in a graceful, fluid body she was! What I am most grateful for to Algean is the wonderful, sweet daughter she gave to us. I am blessed to be your friend. My love and hugs to you and Al as you allow your hearts to mend. With love, Elizabeth

John Coffey said at the end of “The Green Mile,” upon watching Astaire and Rogers dancing “Cheek to Cheek”, “they’re like angels, Like angels in heaven.” IT always makes me think of Algean, although Rogers lacked some softness, gentleness and elegance that Algean embodied. She was indeed an angel living with her feet on this earth.

Her blond hair was always immaculately coiffed, whether she was wearing one of her chiffon dancing dresses or with a gray kitty hanging around her neck, she was the personification of beauty, grace, femininity and elegance, that many could aspire to and few could succeed.

No greater gift in life than having Algean as a fairy godmother was possible.

She was a role model.

She took me in when I had no place to go.

She loved everyone, just for the sake of loving.

And we love her, too.

And always will.

I will always remember your mom as a glamorous and elegant woman.I recall her saying "Ladies do not sweat, they perspire". She was a good cook too, although she didn't feel you appreciated that enough. She used to invite me over for dinner because I had a good appetite and she thought it would "encourage" you to eat more. I remember she made great tuna salad and something she called beef tea.She also let us come over to watch The Wonderful World of Disney every week since we didn't have a TV at the time. That was a real treat! Speaking of which, your mom introduced me to my first pizza ever when I was ten.
Do you remember the time we got into her make-up drawer and we applied EVERYTHING she had (and she had a lot!) We looked like clowns. I always looked forward to helping you decorate your christmas tree every year since we didn't have one of our own, being Jewish. You always had the most beautiful clothes and your mother was kind enough to give me all your hand-me-downs. I remember your parents starting out making fancy dog collars in the garage and I also remember your father had a dark room for his photography. I still have a shot of me that he took which has always been a favorite of mine.I still have a porcelain figurine that she gave me when I was ten.I know we have lost touch over the years but I will always remember the Litwins!

I was always so fascinated by my glamorous, beautiful aunt. She was amazingly contemporary and aware. I treasure the times my daughter and I spent with her in our visits to San Diego and later in our phone calls. She never failed to encourage and support. Algean will always be an angel in my heart.

When Cortney and I were little, Algean bought us matching outfits. I thought that was so cool!
I also remember how Algean and Mom would take us horseback riding during our horse crazy phase. I can still see her in her crisp red and white checkered shirt and bandanna perched elegantly on the fence at that dusty stable.
Algean and my Mom would accidently wear the same color outfits every time we got together. They always looked like sisters.

I remember being around 5 years old, 47 years ago and being asked by Algean to climb thru the dog door to unlock her front door. Helping her never seemed like a chore. I must have been small then. She was very generous giving me 25 cents for my talents. That was a lot of money back then. Enough for more than 1 gallon of gas! David Zweig

The Uslan family always considered you Algean (and Cortney and Al)an integral part of the family. Though relocations seperated us, we thought of you whenever we got together. Our telephone conversation of a week ago was uplifting and yet sad because you were saying a final goodby to me, yet you voiced concern for our family's health. Very typical of you. You were only five years older than me but when I was introduced to the Litwin family 57 years ago, I remember you came over to me along with Dagmar, put your arms around me and said "Young man welcome to our wierd family." You both laughed and I relaxed. I never forgot that moment. We will miss your friendship, love and sense of prescence.

Aunt Algean and Uncle Morty were always kind and generous to me. My earliest memories of her date back to the 1940s when she came to visit us in Carrollton Kentucky. I thought she might be the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Next to my Mom of course.

On a later occasion, your Mom took my sister Susan and you and me to the beach when you were about eight months old. You didn't crawl, you scooted along and left a trail like a small sea turtle.

On one visit a few years later when I was in the Marines, your Dad came home, walked past me and tapped me on the shoulder. He then went to the fridge, opened a bottle of Heineken and sat it in front of me. What a cool guy! I pray her journey home will be swift. Take care of yourself and Al. Your cousin Albert

Algean had a way of making everyone who walked through the door feel right at home and "special", with a talent for saying what you needed to hear at the time. The beautiful lady with the impish sense of humor will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy to you, my dear friend Cortney.

Cortney, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how much your mom adored you. When looking at that beautiful picture of her on this page it's obvious how much you two look alike. Two beautiful women I have been blessed to know. God bless you in your time of loss.

I remember one time when she was still living in Sherman Oaks I did a Tarot reading for her. She had asked what the motives were of her very handsome dance teacher and I told her that he really liked her and was interested in more than dancing. She was hesitant to have coffee with him, lest she give the wrong impression. It turns out that later she found he was "having coffee" with all the pretty ladies and was no more faithful than a Tom Cat. She never had coffee with him because somewhere in her psychic being she knew that he was a bounder, rounder and scoundrel. Very wise of her to have listened to her intuition. Love and miss you Mom.
