Guest Book
We met Al through a mutual friend, and that was our good fortune. We enjoyed his wit and kindness, and respected his strong connection to the UU community. His legacy will surely endure.

Our aquaintance goes back to when our kids were at High Point Swim Club and has continued through the exchange of Christmas e-mails last year. From boat and RV we had many delightful visits with Al and Marian in Naples. Al, the consummate host, always made us feel most welcome, so that we always looked forward to the next time we would get together.

Like all of Al's friends, I treasured our friendship, which started as a result of our love of bridge. We went to the Homewood Retirement Apartments to play with the seniors there every week for at least two years and took turns driving, which gave us the opportunity to enjoy long chats along the way.

Al was very knowledgeable and was very generous with his time. He spent hours installing my computer and teaching me how to use it.

I was deeply saddened to see him struggling with his failing health after his heart surgery. He so badly wanted his life back. He will be greatly missed and remembered with love.

Al's daughter, Elizabeth and I were best friends in grade school and our parents were friends through the church. I always thought Al was super cool...quirky but cool.....who else did I know that had Volvo's or tended huge gardens or allowed us to drive a tractor to mow their huge lawn(Elizabeth probably won't remember this so fondly!)?? He was fun to be around. I think he actually enjoyed being with young people, sharing in the adventure. I loved his laugh!! I am grateful to have known Al.

Al was a very patient, competent man who helped me a great deal in preparing ads, annoucements, and flyers for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Naples. When something went wrong on his computer, I would panic. Al would just say, "That's curious." Then, step by steady step, he would seek out the problem and solve it. What a great guy and friend! We all at UU deeply miss him.

Al was the "go to" guy in our Unitarian congregation. He was calm, cool, and collected, and always ready to help with his valuable advice and experience.
Our singles movie group members are grateful for his selections, critiques, and organization skills.
He was and remains much appreciated by all of us who knew him and relied upon him.

With great pleasure, I particularly remember one sailing trip with Al - Al, another friend, and I brought his boat back to the Chesapeake from the tip of Long Island, via New York harbor . . . . . .

I am not a member of the UU congregation but did attend a few of the sessions there a number of years ago.
I met Al through a then mutual friend who is a stellar member of the UU here in Naples, as was Al. Al was always pleasant and would go out of his way to do things to assist the UU and friends. He devoted endless hours helping this former friend of mine working with him to help create and prepare brochures, etc.
I am so sorry for your loss and I am sure he will be missed in your lives and the lives of many others. I am pleased to have known Al even as a very casual friend

We admired Al very much. Marge also knew Marian for a short time. Al came from our neck of the woods...Wilmington, DE area. We know the UU congregation he and Marion attended in Wilmington. We shall miss Al's presence at Naples UU; he was a valued leader.

I will always remember Al as a caring friend and mentor and will long remember and use the sage advice he gave on so many different topics. As a member of the UUCGN, I, my wife, and my entire family will always be thankful for his seemingly endless and inexhaustible contributions.
