"When the Present has latched its postern behind my tremulous stay,And the May month flaps its glad green leaves like wings, Delicate-filmed as new-spun silk, will the neighbours say,
"He was a man who used to notice such things"?

I knew Bob Mickle was sick for some time, but news of his death last week after a battle with cancer still came as a shock.

I want to be Bob Mickle when I grow up. I sat and watched him keep the city and schools on track each and every week. He never pressed an issue without all of the information in front of him - an art that is lost on many. He was passionate, kind and always had a sparkle in his eye. He was elegant in his words and manner until the very end. We should all take the example Bob left and follow the path of civic involvement with an ever present edge of civility.

I remember Bob as a very kind man with witty humor. I remember my father William A. Mickle shared many lunches with Bob at the Younkers Tee Room. Bob visited my mother in ICU October 2008 and i was very grateful to Bob for sharing stories and history of the Mickle Family.
I will miss Bob Mickle.

No words can describe the love, appreciation and pride that I feel reading everyone's comments of Grandpa. Grandpa is, not was, the rock of the family, unwavering, solid to the core and whose legacy will stand the test of time. From Grandparent's day as a child, him coming to my football games, high school graduation, Air Force Boot camp graduation or just someone to talk to. My Grandfather was and will always be my teacher, role model and hero. I stand taller being able to call Robert Mickle my Grandpa. "An aspiring young photographer, each year, would bring his best work to an honored photographer for judgment. Each year the old man looked at the prints and separated them into two piles. Each year the old man placed a particular landscape scene in the bad stack. Finally, he had to say something. "You sumbit this same landscape every year, and every year I put it on the bad stack. Why do you like it so much?" "Because," the young photographer said, "I had to climb a mountain to get it."" I love you Grandpa...arms around.

All the World was like a Bob Mickle’s Home. I’m sad & very sorry today to say “… was”. For me he is a sample of kind & huge energy, care and attention ... he was also a very courageous man. He is still a part of Cherkassy city community and a light particle of mine. We have been discussing a lot about business development in Ukraine and he always said me “KEEP YOUR BUSINESS”. Yes, Bob! Tough time or prosperous time, we always remember You and keep our business.

Today we often recall the history of life of Bob, which he told in our office at the training course for unemployed willing to start own business. He told how his family survived great depression, how he had to collect coal near the train station. Bib is an example for us for imitation, how you should live to fully realize strengths of your soul and conscience.
